How to show FPS in CS2: Enable & disable commands
ValveFans have already said goodbye to CSGO and welcomed the new CS2 on their PCs. However, players are wondering how they can check their FPS in Counter-Strike 2. Here’s a step-by-step guide showing you how to see your CS2 frame data in-game.
In Counter-Strike 2, as well as in any other shooter like Call of Duty or Valorant, having the highest number of FPS (frames per second) will give you a slight advantage in close and long-range matchups. It’s not the same if you see your opponents move at 200 FPS compared to 60 FPS.
Many fans have had issues regarding the game’s performance on their PCs, stating that it is poorly optimized or that the requirements are quite high. However, so that you have no doubts about how many FPS the new CS2 runs at, here is the way to check the frame rate, including the commands to enable and disable this feature.
Counter-Strike 2: How to show FPS
The only way to display FPS in CS2 is by inputting a command in the Developer Console. Follow the steps below to enable or disable the “Show FPS” command in Counter-Strike 2:
- Open the Counter-Strike 2 Developer Console.
- Type “cl_showfps 1” and press Enter.
This way, you will activate the FPS counter, which will be located on the left side of the screen almost under the map radar. The number will update every second with the frame rate at which Counter-Strike 2 is running. Lastly, you can disable this by typing “cl_showfps 0” on the console.
How to enable console in CS2
In order to enable the developer console in CS2 you must follow these steps:
- Go ahead to the ‘Game’ tab in the In-Game settings menu
- Click on the drop-down of the ‘Enable Developer Console (~)’ option and select ‘Yes’
- That’s all! You can now access the console by pressing the ~ or ` key (below the Esc key on the top left of your keyboard).
