Cyberpunk 2077 devs knew the game wasn’t ready to release
According to Bloomberg’s report, the CD Projekt Red development team knew that Cyberpunk 2077 wasn’t ready to launch.
The bad news continues for Cyberpunk 2077 after a day that’s seen Microsoft, Sony, and even the publisher, itself, offer fans no-questions-asked refunds of the game.
Now, Bloomberg is reporting that the development team knew that the game wasn’t ready to release and was pushed to do so by management at the company.
During an internal meeting, the development team aired their grievances with the board, who were responsible for the harsh work hours leading up to the game’s release, along with the forced launch of the game in an unfinished state.
According to the Bloomberg article, one employee even highlighted the irony of making “a game about corporate exploitation while expecting that their employees work overtime.”
This meeting preceded the agreement with Sony to remove Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation digital store, which was announced on Friday morning.
A massive amount of the blame for the state of Cyberpunk appears to be at the directors’ feet. The deadlines were unrealistic and, according to reports, the developers needed a lot more time.
