CD Projekt RedYou can find tons of new content in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, with one of the first fights you’ll get into being the Chimera boss. You can’t progress without beating the boss, so here’s how you can defeat the Chimera in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty.
The Chimera is a terrifying boss that you’ll encounter while saving President Myres in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. The large, quadruped robot, comes with a drone-like turret that shoots brutal energy beams at you.
You’ll need to beat the Chimera if you want to progress smoothly in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and get the desired ending. The boss has four phases, and each phase gives you a new set of challenges to tackle.
So, here’s how to defeat the Chimera in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty.
How to defeat the Chimera in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty
To beat the Chimera in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty you must make it through each of the phases below.
Keep in mind that if you fail any of the phases, V will be killed, and you’ll need to start over from the last checkpoint.
Phase 1: Run from the Chimera until you reach the elevator
You cannot do much from the get-go against the Chimera in Cyberpunk 2077, as it is immune during this first phase, so you’ll have to run from it until you reach the elevator.
Help President Myers open the gate and run for your life. The Chimera will chase you, throwing Gatling gun bursts and destroying cover points. Keep going to the left, as the robot will target you first and not President Myers. There’s plenty of cover on the left side.
Phase 2: Take cover and wait for the elevator
During this phase, the Chimera will pin you down against the wall of the reception of the Exhibition, so you need to call the elevator and hide behind the column to your right.
Avoid taking cover behind President Myers, as you will probably receive some homing missile bursts and will be unable to survive the barrage.
The Chimera is still immune at this point, so continue taking cover until Myers warns you about the elevator reaching the lobby. Then run for it, and open the elevator gate. This will trigger the last two phases.
Phase 3: Survive the cutscene
A cutscene will be triggered where the Chimera will pin you down, Myers will fall down with the elevator, and you’ll have to complete a sequential interactive cutscene, where you must hit the action button at the right time to avoid dying.
Survive this, and the real combat begins, with the last phase of this Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty boss.
Phase 4: Take down the Chimera
The Chimera has solid bulletproof armor, so there’s nothing much you can do against it unless you are a Netrunner. If you are a Netrunner, you can burst it down with quick hacks like Short Circuit and Synapse Burnout.
If not, run to the left side or right side of the arena, taking cover behind the columns, and then quickly go towards the stairs. On each of the sides, you’ll see a mounted turret. If you have a Body score of 10 or a Technical score of 10, you can dismount this Heavy Machine gun and deal some real damage to the Chimera.
The Chimera is also immune to melee damage, so no use opting for that. The prompts from Myers will reveal some weak spots below the Chimera’s hull for you to shoot at. Rinse and repeat until its health drops.
Then, the Chimera will call some repair drones. You’ll need to quickly defeat them before they repair it. Once you have taken down the drones, the Chimera will rise and shoot you with its gatling, missiles, and laser cannon.
Pay attention to Myers calling out for you to “Take cover” to avoid receiving the laser burst. Then repeat the shooting to the weak spots until it drops to 2% health. Myers will prompt you to mount the Chimera, and you’ll have to complete another interactive cutscene to finally destroy the robot.
That was how to beat the Chimera in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty. Don’t forget to pick up the “Active Chimera Core” before you leave, as you’ll need it for an important side quest.
