Destiny 2 Upgrade Modules are the easiest and most effective ways to upgrade gear. With the Lightfall expansion and Season 20 here, we’re breaking down how to get Upgrade Modules to help make your Guardian even more powerful.

With Destiny 2 Lightfall now live, you’ll need the best weapons and gear to complete the campaign and unlock all of the rewards.

The Power Level of a player’s weapons and armor dictates what they can do in-game. Guardians who have higher Power Levels can participate in Raids, Grandmaster Nightfalls, and Trials of Osiris.

But as a piece of gear’s Power Level increases, it gets hard to infuse weapons. Now, players can use Upgrade Modules to infuse their favorite gear with higher Power Level items. With Destiny 2 Lightfall here at last, here’s how you can get Destiny 2 Upgrade Modules.

Purchase Destiny 2 Upgrade Modules

The easiest and most common way of obtaining Upgrade Modules in Destiny 2 is by purchasing them from Banshee-44 or Ada-1. Banshee-44 is the Gunsmith, and Ada-1 is the Armor Synthesiser. Both have two Upgrade Modules for sale.

Banshee and Ada sell the Upgrade Modules for the same price, but the planetary materials will differ. Here is what you’ll need to purchase them.

  • Enhancement Core – 1
  • Legendary Shards – 10
  • Planetary Materials – 25
  • Glimmer – 5,000

The planetary materials needed will change daily. Players can visit Spider on Tangled Shore to purchase the needed materials.

Upgrade Modules in Destiny 2 Season Pass

Each Destiny 2 Battle Pass offers a pretty good amount of Upgrade Modules and Lightfall’s Season of Defiance is no different. Luckily, almost all of the modules are part of the free Battle Pass.

The free pass offers 19 Upgrade Modules and the Premium Pass offers another 18, meaning Guardians can grab 37 Upgrade Modules throughout Lightfall’s Season 20.

Destiny 2’s Season Pass brings free Upgrade Modules.

Destiny 2 Witch Queen campaign

Destiny 2’s Witch Queen campaign is still playable with the launch of Lightfall, and it offers at least one Upgrade Module per encounter.

You’ll get even more by playing on Legendary difficulty as there are double the reward chests, but you can only get the Upgrade Module once per character, and only on your first clear.

Ghost Shell Modularity

One of the best ways to “farm” Upgrade Modules is by using a Ghost Shell with the Modularity Mod. These shells give players a chance to earn an Upgrade Module after completing certain activities.

These shells are rare, and the tasks to get Upgrade Modules vary between shells. Some shells give a chance to award an Upgrade Module after Crucible wins. Others require players to complete Vanguard Strikes and Nightfalls.

Concentrated Mattergem from Eververse

Players can purchase Concentrated Mattergem’s from Eververse for 200 Bright Dust. It is a consumable item that gives a player a buff. This buff gives bosses a chance to drop an Upgrade Module when defeated.

However, the buff only lasts until a boss is defeated. To farm Upgrade Modules, players will need to purchase many Concentrated Mattergems and hope the boss drops one.

Valor and Infamy Rankings

Lastly, players can earn Destiny 2 Upgrade Modules by increasing their Valor or Infamy ranks. When a player reaches Rank 4 in either, they will earn 3 Upgrade Modules.

After reaching Rank 4, players can reset their rank without removing the reward. This means players can continuously reach Rank 4 and earn 3 Upgrade Modules each time. While a bit of a grind, this is a reliable way to earn them.
