Destiny 2 Season 15 is just around the corner, and fans are on the edge of their seats, and Bungie has just given Guardians their first look at what the future beyond that holds as we edge ever closer to the long-awaited Witch Queen Expansion.

Excitement is beginning to build around the reveal of Destiny 2 Season 15, as Guardians around the world wonder what will be in store for them over the next few months.

We’ve already had the new era’s name, and main character leaked, as well as major ability changes confirmed by Bungie. But now the Destiny 2 Witch Queen Expansion has been revealed by Bungie, showing off Savathun in all her glory along with all of the other exciting content that will be arriving in the new expansion for Guardians to enjoy.

Destiny 2: Witch Queen release date

According to an early listing seen on the Australian PlayStation Store, the Witch Queen Expansion is slated for a February 22, 2022 release. This Destiny 2: Witch Queen release date was confirmed by Bungie on August 24, 2021.

The follow-up to the Beyond Light era of Destiny 2 was originally supposed to drop sometime this year but was pushed back until early 2022. This makes 2021 the first year in the series’ history that players didn’t see a major content drop.

The new Expansion will land on both last and next-gen consoles, along with PC and Google Stadia.

Destiny 2: Witch Queen content

The full reveal gave players the best insight into what Guardians will be doing once the new content releases.

It teases the “definitive” Destiny 2 campaign, as well as a new location in Savathun’s Throne World. Players will be tasked with delving into the new map to “uncover the mystery of how she and her Lucent Hive stole the Light.”

The Throne World sounds like a diverse addition to the game’s lore, complete with everything from a grand palace to a murky swamp.

There will also be the opportunity to craft custom weapons with special mod, shader, and stat combinations to help you tackle the new Witch Queen challenges.

In addition to the new destination and weapon crafting, Guardians will also be able to experience a brand new weapon archetype known as The Glaive.

According to the official description of The Glaive weapon archetype, players will be able to use it to “perform powerful melee combos, fire projectiles, and deploy a powerful energy shield.”

One of the most exciting content reveals for Destiny 2: Witch Queen expansion is that players will have to fight against Hive Guardians, as Savathun has been able to harness the power of the light and create Hive Guardians who have their own Hive Ghosts, which will likely be one of the toughest challenges the community has had to face.
