Destiny 2 Lightfall Campaign ending explained
The ending of Destiny 2 Lightfall‘s campaign sees players take on the mission “Desperate Measures.”
In this mission, the player and fellow Guardians race against Emperor Calus to reach The Veil, which lies deep under Neomuna. Unfortunately, Calus manages to get there first. The player then must fight Calus and win, which leads to your Ghost being attracted to The Veil.
Despite Guardians trying to stop it from happening, the player’s Ghost seemingly creates a link between The Veil and The Traveler, causing a massive beam to shoot out towards The Traveler.
Ultimately, this allows The Witness to create a portal to transport themselves and The Traveler somewhere unbeknownst to us. This is obviously shocking, as despite winning the fight against Calus, it seems the Guardians have actually lost, as The Witness manages to pull off their plan of moving The Traveler away from the Guardians.
This sets up Destiny 2’s final expansion in the Light and Darkness saga which will be called “The Final Shape,” as players will have to wait to find out why and where The Witness has teleported The Traveler to, as they claim to have freed The Traveler from being both “victim and perpetrator.”
