Destiny 2 Season 23 to ‘reimagine’ fan-favorite exotic from first game
BungieDestiny 2’s Season 23 is nearing its November 28 launch, and ahead of the release, Bungie has shared that an exotic from Destiny 1, The Dragon’s Breath, will be brought back for Destiny 2.
The end of Destiny 2’s Season of the Witch also marks the release date of Season 23, Season of the Wish. As usual, a new season brings plenty of additions, nerfs and buffs, QoLs, and more content to Bungie’s popular MMO universe.
Along with all the changes, Bungie has now confirmed a fan-favorite exotic, The Dragon’s Breath, will be “reimagined” for Destiny 2. The developers also revealed the Catalyst for The Dragon’s Breath as well as its new perks.
The Dragon’s Breath coming to Destiny 2 with the Season of the Wish
In their November 16 TWID (This Week in Destiny) blog post, Bungie shared the details about The Dragon’s Breath, alongside a teaser for the Season of the Wish.
The Dragon’s Breath was revamped once in Destiny 1 Year 2, with new perks, and here’s how it looks in Destiny 2.
The Dragon’s Breath passively increases a “fuel counter” the longer you go without firing it, up to five times, and once a fully fueled rocket is fired it’ll stick to targets causing Scorch damage. It’ll also periodically eject incendiary rounds that do Scorch damage. Year 2 Destiny 1 also had a similar Intrinsic with a perk called Napalm. Whenever you hold your trigger and then fire, Napalm creates a pool of fire nearby upon detonation causing periodic damage.
In Destiny 2, The Dragon’s Breath also has another perk, High Octane, that refills two fuel after ignitions and reloads the gun when fuel is fully x5 refilled. Meanwhile, the Catalyst, Pyromancer makes Dragon Breath’s fuel refill faster, and eliminating combatants causes them to spawn Firesprites.
Bungie said that the gun will be part of the Season 23 Season Pass and that you can get the Catalyst by just visiting the gunsmith, Banshee-44. Obviously, you get the Catalyst after you’ve unlocked the gun.
As the Season end approaches, it is best to claim all earned rewards, but even if you missed some you can claim past rewards later. For more on Destiny 2, check out everything that awaits with The Final Shape DLC.
