Destiny 2‘s The Final Shape is the last expansion for the Light vs Darkness saga, and in this expansion, you will go head-to-head against the Witness.

As a part of the campaign, you will come across eight different missions that you need to complete to get a grasp of the full story that’s been brewing ever since the game launched.

So, here’s a list of all the missions in Destiny 2 The Final Shape.

How long to beat Destiny 2 The Final Shape campaign

If you’re playing Destiny 2 The Final Shape campaign on Legend difficulty, you will need approximately 6-8 hours to complete the entire campaign.

However, if you’re playing on Normal difficulty, you will probably need around 2 – 4 hours to complete all the steps in the campaign.

All missions in Destiny 2 The Final Shape

Just like the previous campaigns, Destiny 2’s The Final Shape campaign has two difficulty modes: a normal and a Legend mode. Although the content in both these modes is the same, there’s a staggering difference in the difficulty.

Check out the full mission list below:

  • Transmigration
  • Temptation
  • Exegesis
  • Requiem
  • Ascent
  • Liminality
  • Dissent
  • Iconoclasm
  • Last mission

Mission 1: Transmigration

  • Power cap: Activity Power Disabled
  • Normal Modifiers: None
  • Legendary Modifiers: Chaff, Galvanized, Multiplicity, Epitaph

This is the first mission of the Destiny 2 The Final Shape campaign and will see you navigate your way through the portal into the Pale Heart of the Traveler.

As you make your way through the portal, you will come across some enemies that you won’t be able to damage, so the best way for you to go through this is to dodge them.

Once you’ve made your way through the portal and into the Pale Heart of the Traveler, you will finally unlock Prismatic, which you can then use to damage the enemies that you had to avoid while on your way into the location.

Mission 2: Temptation

  • Power cap: Activity Power Disabled
  • Normal Modifiers: None
  • Legendary Modifiers: Chaff, Galvanized, Multiplicity, Pestilence

During the second mission, you will be tasked with tracking down Crow, who has left to analyze some anomalies. This is the first mission where you will be tasked with solving three conduit puzzles within the Pale Heart of the Traveler.

These puzzles are very easy and will require you to turn the dial either clockwise or anticlockwise by submitting a buff known as Psionic Insights.

This portal will lead to the Pale Heart of the Traveler and the Old Tower.

Mission 3: Exegesis

  • Power cap: Activity Power Disabled
  • Normal Modifiers: None
  • Legendary Modifiers: Chaff, Galvanized, Multiplicity, Fire Pit

For the third mission, you will have to track down and find Ikora Rey, the Warlock Vanguard. During this mission, you will be introduced to yet another mechanic that you’ve seen in both the Prophecy Dungeon and the Aegis mechanic from Vault of Glass.

Defeating a named Knight with your weapon will cause them to drop Dark Motes, while defeating them with the Aegis will cause them to drop Light Motes.

Collect these Motes and deposit them on their respective plates to proceed to the next area. You’ll keep encountering this mechanic multiple times, and for the final section of the mission, this mechanic will be tied to a puzzle.

To solve it, you will have to deposit these motes in a specific order. The key to the solution lies in the number of lights you see on the edge of a plate. The first plate will always have one light glowing, so that’s where you should be starting.

The puzzle section will lead to a boss fight that you need to complete, using the Aegis and the Plate Mote mechanic that you’ve been using throughout this encounter.

Mission 4: Requiem

  • Power cap: Activity Power Disabled
  • Normal Modifiers: None
  • Legendary Modifiers: Chaff, Galvanized, Multiplicity, Hot Knife

For the fourth mission in Destiny 2 The Final Shape, you need to track down Commander Zavala and his ghost Targe. This mission introduces a new Symbol mechanic which is quite similar to the one that you’ve experienced during the Vow of the Disciple Raid.

For this mechanic, when you shoot a highlighted node, you’ll get the Glyphtouched buff and will cause enemies to spawn either right where you’re standing, or in an area close to you. Once you’ve defeated all enemies, you’ll see the symbol of a glyph.

You need to remember this symbol, and then interact with a node bearing the same symbol at the close to the first barrier. If you do this correctly, you’ll see a message appear that says: “A Warder’s glyph has been nullified.”

Keep making your way through the caverns until you come to the hillside with Zavala’s homestead. Here you will encounter a lot of Fallen enemies, a Brig, two Subjugators, and a Tormentor. The mission concludes once you’ve defeated these monsters.

Mission 5: Ascent

  • Power cap: Activity Power Disabled
  • Normal Modifiers: None
  • Legendary Modifiers: Chaff, Galvanized, Multiplicity, Epitaph, Shocker

This mission will introduce a brand new mechanic where you have to throw a Taken ball at the gates covered by Taken Blight.

This is the predominant mechanic for this mission in the Destiny 2 The Final Shape campaign. You need to repeat this till you finally come to the Vex boss inside a small room.

You’ll also come across multiple Subjugators here, so use the Prismatic Wells that spawn in the boss room to defeat these enemies. However, this isn’t the end of the mission as you will have to complete three Lost Sectors in missions The Message I, II and III.

Mission 6: Liminality

Liminality is the new Strike that’s been introduced in Destiny 2 The Final Shape. In this Strike, you need to defeat a Tormentor of the Ahamkaras. The mechanic that you will come across in this Strike revolves around collecting different Taken Essence charges and using them to empower Ahamkara skulls.

However, each time you collect a Taken Essence, you’ll be subjected to a new puzzle that you need to solve in order to escape the room and get to the Ahamkara Skulls. Defeat the Tormentor and you will complete the mission.

It’s worth noting that the Strike and the Lost Sectors before are on Normal difficulty, even if you’re playing Destiny 2 The Final Shape campaign on Legend difficulty.

Mission 7: Dissent

  • Power cap: Activity Power Disabled
  • Normal Modifiers: None
  • Legendary Modifiers: Chaff, Galvanized, Fire Pit, Empath

For this mission, you need to take Targe and locate Zavala, who’s wandered off to defeat the Witness all by himself. You will come across multiple Veiled statues that will tell you how the Witness was formed and a potential way to defeat it.

There’s not much to this mission except for you to survive the onslaught of the forces of the Darkness. You will also come across some Tormentors during these fights. Once you’ve done that, you will finally come to a room filled with weird platforms that look like they’ve been made with LEGO bricks.

You’ll also have to defeat the boss at the central platform but to lower its shield, you will have to defeat the two Subjugators located on either side of the room and then use the Aegis on the main boss.

Mission 8: Iconoclasm

  • Power cap: Activity Power Disabled
  • Normal Modifiers: None
  • Legendary Modifiers: Chaff, Galvanized, Multiplicity, Epitaph

This is the final mission of Destiny 2 The Final Shape campaign and is probably the most difficult mission in the entire campaign so far. To complete this mission, you will have to make use of all the mechanics that you’ve learned in The Final Shape until now.

You’ll have to keep pushing your way through by defeating multiple Tormentors and Subjugators until you come to the final boss arena where you will have to face off against the Witness and his Subjugators.

For the final fight, you will have to shoot nodes to receive the “protection against Darkness” buff and then take the Aegis from the room to break the Subjugators’ shield.

After you’ve broken the Subjugator’s shield, the Witness will trigger a major attack that can one-shot you. The only way to survive this attack is by standing on the vein of light in the middle of the arena and using the Aegis to create a dome for you and your teammates.

After you’ve defeated the first Subjugator, you’ll be able to use a Sword of Light to break a Darkness statue before returning to the fight again. You’ll have to do this three times before the Witness is enraged and you get removed from the arena, concluding the mission.

Last mission TBA

The last mission for Destiny 2 The Final Shape campaign is yet to release and will be available once the Day 1 Raid Race concludes on June 9, 2024. We’ll be sure to update this piece with more information once the mission is available in the game.

That sums up everything you need to know about all the missions in the Destiny 2 Final Shape campaign. As you progress through the game, here’s how you can unlock Prismatic and the No Hesitation Auto Rifle in the new expansion.
