How to unlock the Vex Mythoclast in Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer
The Vex Mythoclast is an extremely powerful Exotic Weapon that has made its return in Destiny 2’s new Season of the Splicer. Here’s how you can get your hands on this rare Fusion Rifle, along with its Catalyst version.
Destiny 2’s Season of the Splicer brought a plethora of new content, including new buffs and nerfs, the Vault of Glass Raid and World’s First race, as well as various Exotic weapons like the Vex Mythoclast.
This Exotic Fusion Rifle used to dominate both PVE and PVP modes thanks to its rapid bursts. Now, the weapon is making its return in Season 14.
Here’s everything you need to know, including how to unlock it.
How to get Destiny 2’s Vex Mythoclast in Season of the Splicer
The Vex Mythoclast could initially be obtained as a rare drop after defeating Atheon in the Vault of Glass during the first year of Destiny. This was a challenging task since this was the final boss of the first Raid.
Luckily, the weapon is much easier to obtain in Season 2 since you can collect it as a random drop from normal Raid clears.
This means that you won’t have to complete any particularly difficult challenge after defeating Atheon. Simply put in the time, and cross your fingers for a Mythoclast drop sooner rather than later.
How to unlock the Vex Mythoclast Catalyst in Destiny 2
After you’ve gotten the Vex Mythoclast in your hands, you should make your way back to the Vault of Glass Raid and search for five hidden plates. These can be triggered with the Exotic weapon, and here’s where you can find each one:
- To the right of where you spawn before entering the Vault.
- In the secret pathway before the Templar fight.
- Below the pathway to the Templar fight.
- To the right of the jumping puzzle on the way to Atheon.
- To the left of the jumping puzzle on the way to Atheon.
You’ll need to defeat some Oracles after finding each of these plates. This isn’t too difficult, since you just need to remember the sequence in which you’re supposed to shoot them.
Once the Catalyst is yours, you’ll be able to generate Orbs with rapid kills while getting improved weapon stability with higher stacks of Overcharge. It will also keep track of how many kills you score.

Season 14 has brought one notable change to the Vex Mythoclast exotic weapon in a new perk. The Temporal Unlimiter will now add stacks of Overcharge to the Fusion Rifle once you score some kills.
When the weapon gets Overcharged, you can swap modes. Toggling the new alt-fire will let you charge more powerful linear fusion shots, so Bungie has some exciting changes ready for players to try out.
