Destiny 2’s Monte Carlo finally gets Catalyst in Season 22
BungieWhile Destiny 2 doesn’t really have a shortage of exotic ARs, few are as revered as the Monte Carlo. Yet it remained without a Catalyst, which is changing with the upcoming season. Here’s all we know about the Monte Carlo’s new Catalyst in Season 22 of Destiny 2.
Between Destiny 2’s biggest showcase scheduled for next week and a candid apology from the game director after uproar from fans, things have been quite chaotic for Bungie’s MMO shooter. It still has a sizable community, after all, and we have just about finished grinding everything from Lightfall.
On a more positive note, with the release of Season 22 creeping closer, Bungie has shared some details on all the buffs and nerfs coming to Destiny 2, including sandbox changes. While there is a lot to delve into, one that strikes out particularly is the changes to an old but beloved exotic AR, Monte Carlo.
Here are all the details Bungie shared about the Monte Carlo’s upcoming Catalyst in Destiny 2 Season 22.
The Monte Carlo will receive a catalyst in Destiny 2 Season 22
The Monte Carlo was introduced in Destiny 2’s Shadowkeep Expansion, with Season of Undying on October 2019. It remained without a Catalyst, which usually grants exotics additional stats and perks, making them even stronger. The gun also sported a unique bayonet that was there just a showpiece and had no practical use.
Not only is it getting a Catalyst, but the new Catalyst will also make use of the bayonet to stab enemies, as Bungie showed in action, piercing through a Cabal.
Bungie said that the catalyst is, “mechanically the most complex catalyst we have ever done, requiring a host of custom animation work and a lot of things we have never done on a weapon before.” We do not, however, know how the Catalysts will change Monte Carlo, both in terms of play style and damage. Currently, the exotic isn’t as effective as other guns, in both PvP and PvE.
Bungie also haven’t shared how to get the Monte Carlo Catalyst; it could be locked behind activities or be as simple as getting the weapon. The Monte Carlo isn’t the only weapon that’ll receive changes, though, as other guns will be touched as well, including one of the most-used bows, Le Monarque.
