BungieStrange Coins are a currency associated with Xur and Starhorse in Destiny 2, so here’s how you can farm this currency quickly in the game.
Bungie gave Xur a huge overhaul in Destiny 2 The Final Shape, giving the vendor and Strange Coins more purpose. Prior to this, you could only use Strange Coin to purchase bounties from the Starhorse.
Legendary Shards have been vaulted for good, so now, in Destiny 2 The Final Shape, Strange Coins are used to buy items from Xur’s weekly inventory. So, here’s how you can get Strange Coins and how to use them.
Destiny 2 Strange Coins explained
Strange Coins in Destiny 2 are a type of currency that you can use to purchase different items like Ritual Engrams, Exotic Catalysts & Armor, and Legendary Weapons from the weekly vendor Xur.
These coins, before The Final Shape, could be used at the Starhorse only, but they’ve been reworked in the new expansion.
How to get Strange Coins in Destiny 2
The easiest way to get Strange Coins in Destiny 2 is by completing the following activities in the game:
- Vanguard Strikes (Including Nightfalls)
- Crucible matches
- Gambit
- Onslaught
- Iron Banner
- Trials of Osiris
The number of coins that you get from completing each activity is completely random. So, if you’re looking to quickly farm this coin, you should play Crucible matches. Alternatively, you can also play Onslaught or Vanguard Strikes, but those take longer to finish.
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to get Strange Coins by completing Dares of Eternity, nor will you be able to purchase the Paraversal Haul from the Starhorse with this currency.
What does the Strange Favor buff do in Destiny 2?
When the Strange Favor buff is active, you’ll get a bonus Strange Coin whenever you earn one through the activities mentioned above.
So, if you’re looking to get more Strange Coins quickly, you need to purchase the Favor of the Nine buff from Xur. It’ll set you back 47 Strange Coins in Destiny 2, but it’ll give you the buff called Strange Favor, which will be available for 11 days.
