What is the Artificer’s Pit in Diablo 4?
The Artificer’s Pit is a new endless dungeon activity in Diablo 4 where players have to clear levels and beat bosses against the clock to progress.
The goal of this activity is simple, you need to get in and clear as many levels as you can. The more levels you clear, the higher the rewards.
If you die while clearing the Artificer’s Pit in Diablo 4, you will be teleported out of the activity.
When you’re inside the pit, you will have 10 minutes to kill as many enemies as you can. If you manage to hit the required threshold of kills, you’ll open a portal to the boss fight. Slay the boss before the timer expires to earn Masterworking materials and unlock the next tier of The Pit.
If you manage to kill the boss with time left on the clock, the benefit increases. With four to six minutes to spare, you skip a level and unlock an additional Tier of the Pit. Killing the boss with six or more minutes to spare grants you two additional Tier unlocks.
As you progress through the different levels, you will come across different bosses, most of which you’ve already encountered in dungeons and side activities in Diablo 4.
How to enter the Artificer’s Pit in Diablo 4
To access the Artificer’s Pit in Diablo 4, you’ll need to use three Runeshards at the Obelisk in Cerrigar. You’ll get the first shard when you clear your first Level 46 Nightmare Dungeon in World Tier 4.
After you’ve collected your first Runeshard, you will start receiving them from different activities, such as World Bosses, Legion Events, and Whisper Caches.
Every time you want to enter the Artificer’s Pit, you’ll need to spend three Runeshards which you can collect from the aforementioned activities.
You can enter The Pit in groups of up to four players, with the player who spends the Runeshards to open the Pit earning the lion’s share of materials.
Diablo 4 Artificer’s Pit rewards
The rewards that you get from the Artificer’s Pit in Diablo 4 can be used to Masterwork your weapons and gear. These rewards drop at different levels of the Pit, and are as follows:
Item | Drop tier | Used in | Rarity |
---|---|---|---|
Obducite | 0-29 | +1 to +4 Masterworking levels | Magic |
Ingolith | 30-59 | +5 to +8 Masterworking levels | Rare |
Neathiron | 60 and above | +9 to +12 Masterworking levels | Legendary |
Aside from rare materials for Masterworking, you can also get Stygian Stones which are necessary items to summon Tormented Uber bosses, which are basically much more powerful Level 200 versions of the current endgame bosses.
In Patch 1.4.2, Blizzard significantly increased their drop rate, and here are the probabilities:
- Tier 1: 5%
- Tier 40: 10%
- Tier 100: 18%
- Tier 200: 30%
Although these are pretty rare items, farming for them is quite worth it as Tormented versions of Duriel and Andariel have massive chances of dropping Uber Uniques in Diablo 4. So if you want to take on such enemies in the game, make sure that you check our Barbarian, Druid, and Necromancer builds according to the current meta.
