Diablo 4‘s devs have revealed that Temper Manuals are carrying over from Season 4, even though it was not a part of the Season 5 script.

As you have to create a brand new character before every season, it’s impossible to have loot carry over from one season to another. But Temper Manuals in S5 are carrying over from the last season due to a bug, and Blizzard have decided to keep it that way.

“We are aware of the reports that new seasonal characters are having their tempering recipes carried over from their last season’s seasonal character,” said Adam Fletcher, Blizzard’s Global Community Development Director.

“This isn’t the original design or intention so I wouldn’t expect this for future seasons but we are letting this one slide for Season 5,” Fletcher continued.

It was not in the devs’ original plans for Season 5, but they decided to turn this simple bug into a feature. It will not be the same case for the upcoming seasons and they are letting it slide for now.

Players were worried that the seasonal objective of learning a new recipe would be broken after this, but Fletcher assured them that “there are still new Tempering recipes” to discover in Season of the Infernal Hordes. Others were quite happy about this, and asked the devs to “let this one stay forever.”

Temper Manuals being carried over is, of course, a massive blessing as players had to constantly grind for them last season. Many were likely disappointed before launch that their hard-earned recipes would be lost in the new season, but now a random bug saved them hours of mindless grinding.

With Temper recipes carrying over, players will get more time to take part in various new activities such as Hellbreach Dungeons even in such a short season.
