A Greater Affix is a parameter that you will come across in Diablo 4 Season 4. So, here’s what these Greater Affixes are and how you can farm them in the game.

Blizzard introduced a host of new changes in the Diablo 4 Season 4 update which include a complete itemization overhaul, and Greater Affixes are a major part of it.

So, here’s everything you need to know about Greater Affixes in Diablo 4, including how to upgrade them.

What are Greater Affixes in Diablo 4?

Greater Affixes in Diablo 4 are permanent stat boosts on your items, and are denoted by a sun icon on the tooltip.

The number of sun icons that you see on the tooltip signifies the number of Greater Affixes on that item. The stat that is affected will have the maximum possible value for it along with a 50% bonus.

The number of Greater Affixes on an item can be identified by the number of sun icons on it.

For example, if the maximum possible value for a damage boost stat is 20%, if it drops as a Greater Affix, the value will be 30%. The value for every damage boost Greater Affix in Diablo 4 is the same.

How to farm Greater Affixes in Diablo 4

Greater Affixes drop on Ancestral Items that drop in World Tier 4 only. While their drop rates are extremely rare, the more difficult content you complete, the higher the chances of you receiving items that drop with these Affixes.

If you’re looking to farm for items with these Affixes, here’s where you can get them:

  • Helltides in World Tier 4.
  • Nightmare Dungeons
  • Whisper caches
  • The Pit

Items can drop with up to four Greater Affixes in the game, but such drops are extremely rare. You will usually come across items with one or two such Affixes at most.

How to upgrade Greater Affixes in Diablo 4?

You can upgrade Greater Affixes in Diablo 4 by Masterworking the item with the appropriate materials. There are 12 levels of Masterworking available, and with each level, you get a 5% boost to the Greater Affix on your item.

Although upgrading your Greater Affixes is a good idea, it’s best that you don’t enchant the item in an attempt to reroll the Affix that you’ve received. Doing so will remove the Greater Affix permanently and will replace it with a normal one.

So, it’s best if you keep farming till you come across the item with the Greater Affix you’re looking for in Diablo 4.

That sums up everything that you need to know about a Greater Affix in Diablo 4. For more information about the game, be sure to check out:
