Even endgame Hardcore Diablo 4 players can make mistakes that could cost their entire run, and one player did exactly that moments after reaching Level 100. As there’s no going back after a Hardcore death, it’s all over right there.

Reddit user ‘Caligrya’ posted about the incident on the Diablo subreddit, as they lost their Hardcore character “mere minutes” after reaching Level 100. Of course, as many would have guessed, Uber Lilith killed them.

Reaching Level 100 in Diablo 4 is by itself a massive deal as it involves a great deal of endgame grinding for quite some time. But the OP did it with a Hardcore character, so it’s an even bigger deal.

However, it only took losing their entire progress for the OP to realize their mistake. “Did you just attempt to yeet Echo of Lilith right after hitting 100?” asked a player. Uber Lilith is regarded as the hardest enemy in the game and many consider changing their builds multiple times after reaching Level 100 to take her on.

The OP replied that their “naivete [was] on full display” during this decision as they thought they would be able to take on the boss just after reaching Level 100. “This will be your last stupid mistake,” added another player.

“Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer,” advised others while some asked the OP not to feel bad about the outcome, and said: “If you make it to 100 HC you won, everything after just a bonus.”

One great way to determine that you can handle Uber Lilith is when you can quite comfortably clear out Tier 100+ Nightmare Dungeons and Tier 60+ Pits. Once you have reached that stage, you can finally have a shot at her with your HC character, but keep in mind that you only have one chance.

Of course, reaching Level 100 with an HC character is a great feat, but players wanting to take on Uber Lilith right after getting to that milestone will most likely face a similar fate as the OP. Blizzard have purposely made Echo of Lilith a challenge and players need to prepare for that.
