Diablo 4 players call for major overhaul to “boring” Strongholds
BlizzardStrongholds in Diablo 4 used to be a nice way to farm XP while power leveling without any proper reworks, players feel that it’s a task to do these every time they create a new character on the Seasonal Realm.
As you explore Sanctuary in Diablo 4, you will come across 12 different Strongholds. These are areas with minibosses, which when defeated, unlock new towns with merchants and other vendors.
While some of these Strongholds are associated with certain side-quests in the game, most of them have no direct connection to the seasonal storyline or the campaign whatsoever.
As mentioned on Reddit by H4DDAD, the Diablo 4 Strongholds feel boring and should not be something that players have to repeat multiple times in a season while leveling an alt.
A player added to the post, as they said, “They provide zero challenge and zero meaningful reward. That just makes them a chore. They should be reworked to either once per season (or once per account), or into actual endgame repeatable content.”
While the game prevents you from repeating these Strongholds in Diablo 4 once you’ve defeated the boss and interacted with the Wanderer’s Shrine, there’s an exploit that allows you to farm this activity.
All you need to do is defeat all the monsters that spawn inside and then log out without lighting the Wanderer’s Shrine. When you log back in, you will be able to run this activity again.
Another player echoed the sentiment of the post and said, “They could overhaul them so that they become a cool part of the endgame,” while a third added, “If they have me a good amount of XP, loot, or materials, I’d do then every time.”
Although there were a few players who liked the way the Strongholds in Diablo 4 are because it is a change of pace from the regular leveling methods, most players agree that these activities need a massive rework, and preferably get tied into the endgame content because they have the potential to do so.
With Blizzard adding more Strongholds and a brand new region in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred, the developers might just take into account the community feedback and make the necessary changes to make the activity a viable form of endgame content.
