Diablo 4 players claim D3’s endgame mode is still miles ahead of The Pit

The Pit is one of the most challenging endgame activities in Diablo 4 Season of Loot Reborn, but most players are convinced that even after several tweaks and fixes, this game mode still doesn’t hold a candle to Diablo 3’s Greater Rifts.

Reddit user ‘GonzoPunchi’ posted about this in the D4 subreddit, as they claimed that “Greater Rifts are so much more fun than Pits.” Greater Rifts are more or less the D3 equivalent of The Pit as these were areas where you had to clear monsters and increase the level tiers as well.

However, being similar didn’t help The Pit from being conceived as the inferior version of Greater Rifts, despite Diablo 4 launching 11 years after D3. One user even shared multiple ways in which they think Greater Rifts is better than The Pit, including better loot, more enemy density, and a variety of maps.

“GR’s gave tons of rewards. Pits give paltry amounts,” said the player. They also mentioned how the rifts had “awesome [enemy] density” and multiple floors too, contrary to The Pit’s two levels.

“I think D4 was developed in a virtual vacuum, as if none of the other games existed, at least in terms of taking to heart the many hard-learned lessons from the past” added another player.

Despite Season 4 having the best reviews among all, players are still not satisfied with the fact that the devs are not bringing back more features from previous games.

Greater Rifts was by far the most enjoyable aspect of D3’s endgame as you traverse through high-level rifts, and fill your inventory with great rewards. Plus, the high enemy density and a matchmaking feature for co-op were just the icing on the cake.

On the other hand, The Pit still has some aspects that need improvement. Surely, some players can be too harsh on it, but Blizzard should work on increasing the Dungeon and enemy variety, and also bump up the quality of rewards to fulfill the expectations of veteran Diablo players.

However, Season 4 is almost at the business end of its tenure, and it’s time for Blizzard to introduce a new mode for the upcoming Season 5 update. So, if you are preparing for the upcoming season and plan to take on the difficult endgame content, ensure you know about all the meta builds to help you breeze through the game.
