Diablo 4‘s regular patches and updates bring server downtimes for the various platforms it’s available on, but on June 2, the servers on Xbox and PC went down for quite some time, leaving players unable to play.

As the game is a live service title that runs on a seasonal basis, it’s always online and constantly gets updated almost every week. The recent server downtime on Xbox went on for hours before players could finally log into the game.

This has led to an increase in demand for an offline mode, as players poured their opinions onto the D4 subreddit. In frustration, user ‘Durandal_II’ said they wanted to “slap the idiot who decided Diablo 4 didn’t need an offline.”

D4 has a massive fanbase with people from various age groups, and many of them might not have a lot of time in the day to play it. So, server issues are something these people want to avoid, and would rather explore Sanctuary in an offline mode when they occur.

“I spent the last 10 hours at my job touching grass. Now I just want to play Xbox for 2 hours before I need to start it all over again,” said another agitated player as the Xbox downtime left them unable to enjoy the game. Others claimed they were “irritated” when they couldn’t play, especially after such a long day.

Many players only have a short period of free time to enjoy the game, so although the issue was related to Xbox and affected many other games, D4 doesn’t have an offline mode, which led to frustrations.

This isn’t the first time players have been calling for an offline mode either, but it remains to be seen whether or not Blizzard will introduce a way to play the game offline in future seasons.
