Diablo 4 players desperate for missing fan-favorite melee class

Diablo 4 does not have a Knight or a Paladin class like Diablo 2. Although the Barbarian is a pure melee class, players have been requesting Blizzard to add a class that is capable of wielding a one-handed weapon and wearing full metal armor.

Diablo 4 received five classes at launch, and so far, there has been little to no mention of a sixth class. While players have been working out to create a plethora of builds for all five classes, the interest in a sixth class is very high.

These five classes have a diverse skill set including armor and weapons. However, players have been requesting Blizzard to add a new class with full metal armor that is capable of wielding a single-handed weapon and a shield. The Paladin class existed in a previous game in the franchise but the same is yet to be seen in Diablo 4.

‘PizzasaurusRex’ jumped into Reddit to say that they miss a Knight-like melee class in Diablo 4. They further added that the Necromancer, despite being able to use the exact weapon combination they mentioned, does not fit the bill. They said, “Unfortunately the necromancer doesn’t fill this gap because Necros are just mages with a different theme. They don’t even hit their enemies with the weapons.”

As pointed out by player ‘Devertized’, the Paladin class was quite popular back in Diablo 2. They said, “Paladin (Crusader) was one of the most played in D2. Has a huge following. Omitting it from the starting lineup is just wrong.”

Others feel that the new class will be added alongside the new expansion, Vessel of Hatred, which is scheduled to go live later this year. Redditor ‘plzadyse’ said, “My guess is that this class will be added via the expansion – a holy type on a crusade/mission to explore the new region.”

Another Diablo 4 player ‘Lykos1124’ added, “I expect that if the Paladins cannot be restored due to lore in, they’ll create the Templar as a rising departure from the religious zealots of the church, and who found their power upon, I dunno, lost holy artifacts and stuff from the Paladin and Crusaders.”

Player ‘shadowbanman’ added their views on the matter and said, “Paladin mechanically has one of my favorite playstyles, I am salty Diablo 4 doesn’t have anything like it yet.”

At this point, there are a lot of rumors about the new class that’s set to come in the Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred expansion. But, most of these rumors are fueled by leaks, so they should be taken with a grain of salt.

While there are a lot of good contenders for the new class to join the current roster, it will be interesting to see if Blizzard listens to the community and adds the Paladin or a similar class in Diablo 4 with the expansion.
