Diablo 4 players fear Spiritborn is just a copy of fan-favorite classes

Diablo 4‘s upcoming expansion, Vessel of Hatred will introduce the brand-new Spiritborn class, but some players aren’t impressed with its resemblance to the Druid and Monk classes from previous games.

Blizzard revealed everything players needed to know about the Spiritborn class in a dedicated livestream on July 18. These new warriors belong to the jungle tribes of Nahantu and can summon Spirits to fight alongside them.

However, Diablo fans felt it was too similar to other classes, taking to Reddit to argue that it’s just a “cooler Druid” or a “green Monk.”

“Wtf is going on with this? It’s like they said buffing Druid is too hard, let’s just add a skinny Druid instead,” added a player, while others were convinced that “there is nothing new about the class.”

A massive aspect of Spiritborn’s gameplay is using its Guardian Spirits, or familiars, during combat and it’s most likely why it’s considered too similar to the Druid, and even the Monk. Thanks to its Amazonian appearance, many have compared it with the Witch Doctor from Diablo 3 as well.

“The amount of ‘Oh it’s brand new, it’s all new, it’s not the Monk, it’s not the Druid’ got really annoying when in fact it’s 1000% a mix of Druid and Monk with some Witch Doctor,” complained another player.

Many didn’t even want the Spiritborn class in the first place as the Paladin has been on top of the list. “Feels like a Monk/Druid fusion. Still hoping for Paladin someday,” added a player.

However, among all the reported similarities, some new skills and abilities definitely have a creative touch. For example, spellcasting alongside summoning familiars was not this easy in Diablo 4 before. Fans have only seen the gameplay trailer as of writing, so it remains to be seen if their opinions change once the expansion is released.
