Diablo 4 players warn against ignoring The Pit in favor of “amazing” Infernal Hordes

Diablo 4 Season 5 introduced Infernal Hordes, a new rogue-like mode that has taken players by storm. This new addition has left many players wondering about the relevance of The Artificer’s Pit, a similar feature that was introduced in Season 4.

With Infernal Hordes offering similar rewards, The Pit is struggling to maintain players’ interest.

Complaints about The Pit aren’t new. Shortly after it arrived, players criticized it as a repetitive activity, only useful for farming materials and obtaining Stygian Stones to summon bosses.

“A single T7 infernal horde gives me multiple runs worth of Pit 100s I’d need to do for the Neathiron, on top of a ton of gem fragments, stygian stones, and tens of millions of gold,” commented a player on a post from the Diablo 4 subreddit discussing the two modes.

The Infernal Hordes were seamlessly integrated into Sanctuary’s storyline, quickly capturing players’ attention. Additionally, farming for Masterworking materials and Uniques is significantly easier and faster in that mode.

However, some players still loyal to The Pit argue that having two different modes adds the variety that the endgame in D4 needs.

While it’s true that Infernal Hordes offer better drop rates, The Pit is still perfect for those who are just starting to build their character and aren’t ready to face the full wrath of a Tier 6 Infernal Horde.

“If the very top tiers of Infernal Hordes are better for farming Masterworking Materials, that is actually a good thing! It shows progression from The Pit….To Infernal Hordes….Then potentially back to The Pit if looking to clear level 200,” one player pointed out.

While most Diablo 4 players are divided between these two endgame modes, they all agree that The Pit needs an extra element of excitement that something like leaderboards could give them.

Diablo 4 Season 5 has completely reworked Unique Items and Legendary items. This has given Sorcerers a much-needed buff to survive in challenges like Hellbreach Dungeons, so don’t miss out on all the changes.
