Cows in Diablo 4.

The Secret Cow Level was introduced in D2 and became so popular that fans of the franchise have been hunting to find traces of it in Diablo 4.

Just like the Artificer’s Pit, which is similar to the Greater Rifts from Diablo 3, players have found secrets that indicate Blizzard is slowly adding the Secret Cow Level in bits and pieces.

Does Diablo 4 have a cow level?

As of now, there is no Secret Cow Level in the game, but considering that players have found materials that resemble the ones used to unlock this level in Diablo 2, there’s a possibility that Blizzard might add it at a later date.

How to begin Secret Cow Level hidden quest in Diablo 4

The first hint about the Secret Cow Level lies in Ked Bardu where you will see the statue of four Oxen close to the Alchemist.

Out of these four statues, you will be able to interact with one of them, which will give you the following message: “The Oxen Gods stand as guardians to this sacred fountain. It is said that one who presents a worthy offering cleansed in these waters may gain their blessing.

Interacting with the first Oxen statue will give you a hint on how to start the hidden Secret Cow Level quest.

If you step into the pool, you’ll find another old tablet that has the following text: “The crumbling stone has a few discernible words: “…spill their blood to be deemed worthy…”

It’s worth noting that interacting with these two statues will trigger a hidden questline where you will have to kill bovines in different regions to unlock three relics.

Where to find Secret Cow Level relics

  • Bloody Wooden Shard drops in Kejhistan or Hawezar
  • ‍Intricate Metallic Fragment drops in Dry Steppes
  • ‍Musty Tome drops in Scosglen or Fractured Peaks

To get these items to drop, you will have to kill 666 cows in the regions mentioned above. There’s a global counter to this, so players who are killing cows in your close vicinity will also add to the counter.

However, to get the items to drop, you need to be the one to get the 666th kill. That said, there’s also a timer of 666,666 seconds, which roughly translates to seven days after which the counter will reset, so you’ll have to restart your cow hunt if you cross the timer.

The three relics are a throwback to the ones seen in Diablo 2.

Once you’ve got all three relics, you’ll have to take them back to Ked Bardu and drop them in the pool with the Oxen statues. When you pick them up from the pool, you will be able to interact with the three remaining statues.

After you’ve interacted with all of the statues, you’ll get the Strange Key that you can use to open the Forlorn Hovel in Scosglen.

Inside this room, you’ll find more demonic cows, and when you defeat them, they’ll drop a Stamina Potion. Here is where the hunt for the cow level ends.

As of now, that’s all there is to the Secret Cow Level, but players expect the developers to add more to it in the Vessel of Hatred expansion which releases on October 8 alongside Season 6.
