Diablo 4: Was Lilith really that bad? Players explain
Blizzard EntertainmentDiablo 4’s Lilith has become an iconic villain, but some players, especially those new to the game, are questioning whether or not she was actually that bad.
Lilith in Diablo 4 is known as the Queen of Succubi, daughter of the Lord of Hatred, and Mother of Sanctuary. She had a child with the Archangel Inarius, who would become the first Nephalem.
As a result, Lilith had the ultimate involvement with the fate of humanity. Now, despite the many devilish names she possesses, some players are asking why she is seen as a “Big Bad.”
‘Linkaara’ posed the question on Reddit: “Obviously I am missing some important plot information… why is Lilith bad again?” they asked. “Jump to ‘modern day,’ Lilith comes back but every human immediately thinks of her as a Big Bad… why? Isn’t Lilith the one who wanted to keep humanity alive?”
The player, by their own admission, was new to Diablo 4 at the time of the question. Fans did jump to the comments to answer their question, however, and the overall consensus was not favorable to the Daughter of Hatred.
“Lilith wants to corrupt humanity into crazed killers so that they kill off all the weak ones themselves, all Sutter Cane-like. The ones left that survive the slaughter will be ‘strong enough’ to stand against the Angels and Demons,” a fellow Diablo 4 player explained.
The confusion that could cause players to question whether Lilith is a bad entity mainly seemed to arise when considering her manipulative nature. Her words may sound sweet, but her actions truly speak for themselves.
“She’s just a manipulator with a sweet tongue. Humans are tools to her. No more, no less. I don’t want to ruin the story so I won’t say more,” a player pointed out.
Whether you love or hate her, the story seems to make it clear enough that her intentions are no less than uncaring and self-motivated. Her story is complex enough that you could debate whether her actions are justified, but so far, players seem to believe she deserves the “Big Bad” label.
