Diablo 4 Season 5 leak reveals World of Warcraft crossover on the way
BlizzardThe content found within the Diablo 4 Season 5 PTR files suggests that a crossover with World of Warcraft is on the cards.
While characters from Diablo 4 have made appearances in other games before, if this crossover happens, this is the first time an item from a different game will be seen in Blizzard’s ARPG. So, here’s everything you need to know about it.
What to expect from Diablo 4 x World of Warcraft crossover
New models for the Frostmourne, the sword wielded by the Lich King from World of Warcraft, were found in the Diablo 4 files and have fueled speculation about a crossover.
According to the lore about the Lich King, the Frostmourne is a two-handed longsword that can shatter enemies and even raise the dead.
Considering that Barbarians and Necromancers are the only classes in Diablo 4 that are capable of wielding a longsword, this weapon, if released in the game, could be restricted to these two classes only.
Although the powers of the Frostmourne could be tweaked once the weapon is released, if Blizzard does intend to keep it the way it is, then Necromancers could gain the ability to freeze enemies, while Barbarians could raise zombies.
However, considering that the latter goes against the core principle of the Barbarian class, there’s a very high possibility that the weapon could be restricted to Necromancers only. Besides, it’s the weapon of the Lich King, so it wouldn’t make sense for a non-mage class to be able to use it.
Given how popular the weapon has been in World of Warcraft, the Frostmourne, in all likelihood, will be considered a Unique weapon in Diablo 4.
However, just because the models for the weapon were found in the game files does not mean that it will make its way into the game. We’ll be sure to update this piece once there’s concrete information about it.
Apart from the Frostmourne, you’ll also be able to participate in a new activity known as the Infernal Horde in Diablo 4 Season 5.
