Diablo 4’s “boring” Unique items are putting players to sleep

Diablo 4 Unique items are meant to have powerful stats that help players progress easier through the game, but fans are finding the stats of some items so uninspiring that it makes them “fall asleep.”

Unique items in Diablo 4 usually come with special affixes that make them worth the effort it takes to find them. They’re potent upgrades that make your character a formidable force and can even completely change the way you play them.

However, players are saying that some of the Uniques they are finding in Season 3 are “boring.” Not necessarily because the items don’t do anything, but specifically because the item’s conditional affixes are much too complicated

In a Reddit post, ‘Shaka_Walls’ posted about this issue, stating that it doesn’t even matter if the item is good if reading the effects makes them “fall asleep.”

“This is supposed to be a UNIQUE. Why does this game insist on being so boring???” they said.

The item in question had what’s called a “Lucky Hit,” an effect that gives players a 26% chance to reduce the Cooldowns of their Non-Ultimate skills by 1.5 seconds if they inflict Bleeding on an Elite enemy.

Players in the comments agreed with the OP’s sentiment. Many said that these kinds of stats are “random and confusing,” and that the conditional affixes are a problem with itemization in Diablo 4

“Devs should remove varied Lucky Hit chances for each skill. It’s unnecessary overcomplication which prevents intuitive differentiation between such builds as: high LH proc chance with fast attacks and powerful one-shot crit builds with slow attacks,” one player commented.

The issue with current itemization for players is that the affixes are so conditional that it makes the game boring to play and almost doesn’t make the item itself worth it.

“You maybe get to enjoy this nearly unnoticeable benefit when you do this specific thing on this specific enemy,” a fan commented to try and explain the issue, while another merely said that the devs don’t know what they’re doing. “Everyone that designed and approved the current itemization and skill system should never be allowed to work on a video game again.”

Diablo 4 devs have mentioned some plans for changes to itemization in future updates, but nothing specific yet. We will keep you updated with anything that happens in the future.
