Diablo 4 devs backtrack on secret World Tier requirement change
BlizzardFollowing the backlash to the latest Diablo 4 secret update to World Tier requirements, the Blizzard devs announced that they would cancel the new level cap. Here’s everything about what happened with Diablo 4’s new World Tier requirements.
Diablo 4 players are adjusting to the huge amount of changes that Patch 1.1 has introduced to the game. This update brought controversial balance changes to the game, and players pointed out that it also made some major shifts in World Tier requirements that weren’t written in the update’s patch note.
World Tiers are the difficulty setting for Diablo 4. Players have to complete World Tier 2 to enable the rest of the options, which introduces better loot and unique items. Blizzard promised that this new update will make the Tier system more fulfilling.
Here’s everything that you should know about the proposed World Tier requirements in Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 devs revert World Tier requirement changes
After Diablo 4 fans expressed their disappointment with secret changes to World Tier requirements, the Blizzard devs decided to undo the sudden tweak. “We will be removing the level requirement for World Tier 3 & 4,” Global Community Development Director Adam Fletcher said on Twitter.
Canceled Diablo 4 secret World Tier requirements
The Diablo 4 community pointed out that right after Patch 1.1 went live, World Tiers 3 and 4 were suddenly level capped. This meant that players had to be at a certain level to access a higher World Tier, instead of just finishing the campaign and entering the Capstone dungeon for the next World Tier.
However, the level requirements to access each Capstone weren’t made clear in the latest patch notes. While debating this secret change to World Tiers in Diablo 4’s subreddit, user the-true-steel explained that players had to be level 40 to complete the Capstone dungeon for Tier 3, while others pointed out that the Tier 4 Capstone dungeon only shows up as a priority quest when the player scales up to level 60.
It’s important to note that these posts have been removed from Diablo 4’s subreddit, but Global Community Development Director Adam Fletcher, responsible for the Diablo franchise, posted on Twitter that they were going to backtrack on these level requirement changes.
Diablo 4 World Tier loot update
Diablo 4’s latest patch notes pointed out that the devs were quite happy with World Tier 2, but they increased the Bonus Gold from 15% to 20% and let Monster drop 15% more items.
World Tiers that had bigger changes are World Tiers 3 and 4, where Monster levels have been tweaked in dungeons and most overworld territories. Enemies will begin to trail behind the player in level after a certain point (up to a maximum of 5 Levels behind). “This change does not affect World Bosses, Legion Events, Fields of Hatred, Helltide, or Nightmare Dungeons,” noted Blizzard’s devs.
Reward experience for completing Whispers in World Tiers 3 and 4 have also been significantly increased, as well as the bonus experience rewards when killing monsters that are higher level than the player.
