Who is Diablo 4’s main villain, Lilith?

Lilith is the main antagonist in Diablo 4, and she is responsible for the creation of humanity through her love affair with Inarius. Lilith is the daughter of Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred, and Inarius is a former Archangel, so their relationship is a bond of both a demoness and an angel.

Both Lilith and Inarius created the Sanctuary, which is a realm between the Burning Hells and High Heavens that’s safe from the endless war between the two. Together they created humanity and the Nephalem, who are essentially the first of their offspring.

As the Nephalem grew stronger, both the forces of the High Heavens and Burning Hells saw them as a threat and so they invaded Sanctuary and killed many of them. After this, Lilith became enraged and set on conquering and destroying both Heaven and Hell.

Diablo 4‘s story sees Lilith’s return after being banished to the void by Inarius, as she attempts to regain Sanctuary and start a new army. The player’s mission is to follow her across Sanctuary.
