Electronic Arts and Dice have revealed some new details about Battlefield 2021, including confirmation of which consoles the shooter will arrive on, and that a reveal will be coming “soon.”

As we near the reveal for Battlefield 6, fans are desperate for any information on the latest Battlefield title. While leaks and rumors have been circulating, EA and DICE have kept their cards close to their chest.

However, DICE have provided an update on the future of Battlefield, which has revealed some exciting new details on 2021’s installment.

They have said that this year, they have “the biggest Battlefield development team ever working on our console and PC game for this Holiday season” as they work with “more world-class development studios within Electronic Arts.”

Battlefield 4 campaign

In this reveal, we finally have confirmation if Battlefield 2021 will be on next-gen consoles only. DICE said that all of these new features will be “brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs.” So from this announcement, we understand that this year’s Battlefield title will be on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles only, as well as PC.

While Battlefield 2021 may not arrive on Xbox One and PS4s, it’s rumored that it will launch on Xbox Game Pass on day one. There is also no word if Battlefield 6 will feature crossplay, but as this has become industry standard, it’s highly likely.

DICE revealed that Battlefield 6 is now in the “daily playtesting mode” where they’re “polishing, balancing,” and making the best possible Battlefield game they can.

Battlefield gameplay

They promised that Battlefield 2021 has “everything we love about Battlefield,” including “Epic scale,” “Crazy, unexpected moments,” and “Massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before.”

While there is no confirmation of when Battlefield 6 will be revealed, DICE said that we should get ready for their reveal “soon™” with a cheeky wink.

This announcement comes alongside the news that they are also developing a mobile Battlefield game, following in the footsteps of other shooter franchise titans, Apex Legends and Call of Duty.
