Do you need PlayStation Plus to play Modern Warfare 2’s beta?

You don’t need a PlayStation Plus subscription in order to play the Modern Warfare 2 beta on PS4 and PS5. Once you have acquired it, you can hop into the game right away and have fun.

However, the developers have mentioned that PlayStation console users in Germany will need a PS Plus subscription because of the game’s age rating. This isn’t a requirement outside of that region.

Do you need Xbox Live Gold to play Modern Warfare 2’s beta?

Players that preordered the game for Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S need an Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to try out the beta when it first becomes available on Thursday, September 22.

However, an Xbox Live Gold subscription is not required for the time period between Saturday, September 24 and Monday, September 26. So, you’ll be able to enjoy the open beta for free like PlayStation console players.

PC players that pre-purchased Modern Warfare 2 will need a Battle.net or Steam account to play the beta on September 22. However, it will be available to all PC players regardless of preorder status on September 24.

That covers everything you need to know about whether or not a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription is required to play the Modern Warfare 2 beta. Be sure to check out the beta when the early access period begins.
