Warzone Pacific Xbox Live Gold and PS Plus

If you’re playing on one of the next-gen consoles, it’s highly likely you pay for their premium services. For those who don’t, do you need PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold to play Warzone Pacific? We’ve got everything you need to know.

Warzone is arguably the most popular battle royale out there, with millions of players dropping into Warzone Pacific’s Caldera every day to get their first-person shooter fix. Part of the reason the game is so popular is the fact that it’s free-to-play, meaning you don’t have to pay to jump into the action.

With Warzone Pacific Season 1, now is a great time to hop on Warzone, whether you’re a returning player or new to the game. With that in mind, do you need to buy PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold to play Warzone? We’ve got the answers.

Do you need PlayStation Plus to play Warzone?

For those on either PS4 or PS5, the good news is that you do not need a PS Plus membership in order to enjoy free-to-play games like Warzone Pacific.

This means you are able to also play the game with friends, in a party chat, without subscribing to PS Plus.

PS Plus costs £50/$60 for a year’s subscription, which is required if you want to play multiplayer in games like Black Ops Cold War or Vanguard. But, if Warzone is the only game you’re interested in, you can save yourself some money.

Do you need Xbox Live Gold to play Warzone?

Warzone players fighting in Caldera Gulag

Usually, you do not need Xbox Live Gold to play Warzone, but there’s currently a bug in Warzone Pacific where you need to have Xbox Live Gold to play.

Warzone’s developers Raven Software are aware of the issue and have listed it on their Trello board as under investigation. The majority of the dev team are on their holiday break, so we expect this issue to be fixed in the New Year.

So, much like PlayStation’s system, Xbox users should soon be able to enjoy Warzone for free without paying for an online membership.

Before April 2021, Xbox players would have had to pay for Xbox Live to play any game on their system. Fortunately, Microsoft listened to the fans and followed in the footsteps of PlayStation, allowing players to enjoy free-to-play games without getting roped into a subscription.

So, there you have it, for those wondering whether they have to pay for these subscriptions on either Xbox or PlayStation just to play Warzone, the answer is no, you do not need Playstation Plus and you’re not supposed to need Xbox Live Gold to play Warzone.

So, jump into the action and check out the game-breaking pay-to-win Warzone glitch lets you keep weapons & Perks after death.

Best Vanguard Kar98k loadout for Warzone Pacific Caldera

Warzone Pacific has brought a familiar dominant weapon to the game, but this time it’s Vanguard’s rendition. Here’s our best Kar98k loadout.

Best Kar98k Warzone Pacific

After Warzone Pacific introduced a brand new map, players who like to engage in long-range combat will be eager to find a great sniper class. Here’s our best Kar98k loadout for Warzone Pacific Caldera.

With Vanguard introducing over 40 more guns into Call of Duty’s battle royale, some Warzone players will be flustered with the amount of choice.

Sniping has always been a great playstyle in Verdansk, and in the new Warzone Pacific Caldera map, it remains dominant with a familiar sniper returning. For those looking to take advantage of long-range engagements on Caldera, here’s the best Vanguard Kar98k loadout you can use.

Best Perks and Equipment to use with the Kar98k

Best Kar98k attachments for Warzone Pacific

kar98k vanguard
  • Muzzle: F8 Stabilizer
  • Barrel: VDD RE02K
  • Stock: Short Stock
  • Underbarrel: SMLE Pistol Grip
  • Magazine: 8mm Klauser 3 Round Mag
  • Ammunition: Lengthened
  • Rear Grip: Fabric Rear Grip
  • Perk: Fleet
  • Perk 2: Deep Breath

First off, the F8 Stabilizer will help boost accuracy and damage range, allowing you to hit targets at greater distances. Combined with the VDD RE02K barrel, which increases bullet velocity, the one-hit-kill area, and accuracy, you’ll be taking people down with ease.

Another great attachment that will increase bullet velocity is the Lengthened Ammo Type. This will ensure that your bullets will hit faster and more accurately from range.

The Short Stock is a great attachment for those looking to use the Kar98k as a quick scoping sniper. It increases your movement speed, ADS speed, sprint to fire speed, and aim walking movement speed. At the cost of some accuracy and recoil control, this attachment makes the Kar98k a great high-power mid-range option with mobility.

Next up we have the SMLE Pistol Grip and Fabric Rear Grip. The Fabric Grip will increase mobility, making sure you hit your target first, while the SMLE Pistol Grip will increase sprint to fire speed.

Despite decreasing the magazine size, the 8mm Klauser 3 Round Mag will also increase the aim down sight speed, as well as speed up the reload time.

Lastly, the two Perk attachments we have chosen are Fleet and Deep Breath. Fleet will have you moving as quickly as possible which will enable you to take the Kar98k into close quarters while also increasing weapon swap quickness. Meanwhile, Deep Breath will allow players to steady their aim while aiming down sight for longer.

Best Perks and Equipment to use with the Kar98k

warzone perks
  • Perk 1: E.O.D.
  • Perk 2: Overkill
  • Perk 3: Amped
  • Secondary: MP40
  • Lethal: Molotov
  • Tactical: Stun

EOD will protect you from any explosive and fire damage that isn’t related to killstreaks, which is great for a gun that you are more likely to be holding areas down with.

Overkill gives you the option for a more close-ranged gun, and we chose the MP40, as it’s a solid close to medium range option in Warzone Pacific.

For the final Perk, we chose Amped. This Perk allows you to switch weapons faster, which is great for any sniper loadout as it means you will be able to pull your secondary weapon out quickly so that you aren’t out-gunned from close range.

The Molotov is great for getting players out of camping spots and the Stun will buy you more time for when things are getting sticky.

How to unlock the Kar98k in Warzone Pacific

This will unlock the weapon for use in Vanguard and Warzone Pacific and if you’re looking to reach this level fast, check out our piece on how to level up quickly.

Alternatives to the Kar98k in Warzone Pacific

Some other alternatives to the Kar98k include the 3 Line Rifle, which is another Sniper Rifle worth giving a shot. If you’re looking for something a little different give the MG42 LMG a go, as it can also be deadly from range.

Crazy Alcatraz video shows just how accurate Warzone’s Rebirth Island really is

Warzone players can now witness a side-by-side comparison of Rebirth Island and real-life Alcatraz Island.

Rebirth Island Alcatraz

Fans of the Rebirth Island map in Warzone might be shocked to discover just how much of a carbon-copy the chaotic battleground is to real-life Alcatraz.

Since Rebirth Island made its Warzone debut on December 16, 2020, players have enjoyed the close-quarters version of Call of Duty’s battle royale. The map was only meant to be a temporary inclusion as an ode to Blackout’s Alcatraz map but its popularity has made it a Warzone mainstay since its inception.

Thanks to a new comparison video, fans of the map can appreciate just how accurate the Call of Duty devs were when recreating real-life Alcatraz.

Rebirth Island POI

For those who may be wondering, Alcatraz is a real-life island in San Francisco, California in which a lighthouse, military base, and Federal Penitentiary can all be found. The island was notorious for its cold waters and strong currents that made escape impossible.

Naturally, these conditions make for a fantastic Call of Duty battle royale map, and thanks to a new video, players can witness just how well the real-life location translates to an in-game battleground.

The video posted to the Warzone subreddit by yoursofunny is just over four minutes long and offers a shot-by-shot comparison of Rebirth Island’s points of interest including Prison Block, Harbor, and Factory.

It’s truly astonishing to witness the attention to detail that contributed to Rebirth Island’s final design. The map is a one-for-one recreation down to the positioning of staircases and the length of hallways.

Given the success of Rebirth Island, it’s no surprise that players voice their frustration when the map is removed from the active playlist options. In fact, the map is so well-like that players have even offered a similar island as the real-life inspiration for a sequel to Rebirth Island.

There is a frustrating Warzone glitch that causes players to get stuck on the RICOCHET anti-cheat screen, and here’s how you can fix this bug on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Warzone players had to deal with cheaters ruining games for eighteen months until the RICOCHET anti-cheat finally launched. This brought kernel-level drivers to counter cheaters and hackers in the game.

This system has made some improvements to the Warzone experience by nerfing cheaters’ weapons, but players have also noted a few problems. A new bug is causing players to get stuck on the RICOCHET anti-cheat screen.

Here’s how you can fix this glitch.

How to fix Warzone ‘stuck on RICOCHET anti-cheat’ screen bug

This Warzone glitch is prominent among Xbox console users. Most of the reports of players getting stuck on the RICOCHET anti-cheat screen came from those playing the game on an Xbox.

However, that doesn’t mean that the issue doesn’t also persist on other platforms. Players on PS4, PS5, and PC have also encountered this glitch. The good news is that there are a few ways to get around it.

Restart Warzone

Here’s how you can try this out:

  1. Simply close Warzone
  2. Restart your respective platform
  3. Boot up Warzone
  4. Check to see if you still get stuck on the screen

Check for updates

If the solution above didn’t fix the glitch then the problem might be that you need to download the latest Warzone update. So, you’ll need to make sure that you’re running the latest version of the game.

You can check for updates in the options/settings screen of your console. If there’s a new update available then you can try loading the game again after it finishes installing. This is a solution that has worked for some players.

Clear your saved data

PC players who own the game on Steam can use a feature that lets you verify the integrity of your game cache. This will let you ensure that the problem isn’t being caused by a corrupted game file.

Here’s how you can do this:

  1. Open Steam
  2. Go to the Library section
  3. Right-click on Warzone and select Properties.
  4. Select the Local Files tab and click Verify integrity of game cache
  5. Wait as Steam verifies the game’s files

Wait longer for the game to load

The easiest and most straightforward idea to try, leave it and hope it fixes itself. Sometimes, you may find yourself stuck at the RICOCHET anti-cheat screen if the game just taking a bit longer to load.

If you wait for a while, you could get past the screen eventually. This option requires you to be patient and do nothing for a few minutes. Some players have reported this working after 5 minutes of waiting.
