Respawn Entertainment’s upcoming game Titanfall is receiving great reception amongst the gaming community all over the world.
Titanfall re-imagines an FPS game and introduces a completely new method of moving, running, climbing – and then there’s titans which any player has the ability to use.
The big question that many people are asking is whether or not Titanfall could be the Call of Duty killer, whether it be this year or in the near future. Whilst it’s very difficult to say given the completely different approach Titanfall is taking, it’s certainly unlikely it will put a dent into the Call of Duty fanbase “for the moment”.
Imagine Call of Duty as being the Apple of the gaming scene, the Call of Duty franchise is incredibly powerful and for that reason people continue to purchase the next instalment each year, either because they want to, it’s Call of Duty, or all their friends intend on playing it.
Call of Duty is a mass market title that appeals to casual, hardcore and professional gamers – whether it be you just want something to play after school/work or you play competitively, there’s elements within Call of Duty that cater to everyone.
Casual gamers are drawn to the laid back and ‘pick up and play’ nature of Call of Duty titles and may or may not delve into technicalities such as Create-a-Class, Perks and the other configurations within Call of Duty. Then you have regular, hardcore and professional gamers who have an array of added features and configurations at their disposal in order to increase their effectiveness as a player.
As quoted by Mark Rubin from Infinity Ward, the vast majority of Call of Duty players are in fact very casual gamers, and the ‘pick up and play’ nature of Call of Duty continues to appeal to the mass market. It could be assumed that many of our readers aren’t in fact ‘casual’ gamers and therefore we may see the future of Call of Duty differently.
“We have an enormous amount of players who are more in the casual game space, but they play a lot.” – “It’s kind of a weird, ironic thing to say. They aren’t hardcore gamers, or even gamers, but they play Call of Duty every night. – Mark Rubin.
Call of Duty takes a very simple approach and uses a ‘proven formula’ that continues to appeal to everyone and for that reason will likely continue to sell copies in great numbers for many years to come.
With that being said, whilst Titanfall won’t take the crown overnight, it has a very bright future ahead.
Black Ops Cold War leaks suggest the return of this fan-favorite perk
The first batch of upcoming Black Ops: Cold War perks have been leaked, suggesting this fan-favorite perk could return.
Datamined images from the files of Black Ops Cold War reveal new perks that may be coming to the game.
In a post by dataminer TheGhostOfMW2, it appears that two perks are hidden away in the game’s code that may be coming to Black Ops Cold War in a future content update.
Most notably, it appears that the first perk (pictured to the left) is Lightweight, a returning perk from several Call of Duty titles.
Some may think at first glance the perk is Marathon (which gave players unlimited sprint), but since Black Ops Cold War comes with built-in unlimited sprint, this perk would be useless in the game.
A common complaint for Black Ops Cold War is the sprint speed, so having lightweight would be a welcome addition to the perk 3 category. If true, the perk 3 category would consist of the following perks:
- Cold Blooded
As for the perk pictured on the right, no one knows exactly what it could be. Some have speculated it could be the return of the “Team Link” perk from Black Ops 4, that would allow you to see enemies your teammates have spotted on your mini-map.
This theory comes from the icon having a sword, just like how the Team Link perk did in Black Ops 4 (pictured below).
We doubt that this would be the perk, though, considering Forward Intel is in the same perk 1 slot and gives you the locations of where enemies spawn, on top of making your mini-map larger.
If these perks were added in the future, they would be the 6th perk for both the perk 1 and perk 3 slots. Perk 2 would still be left with 5 perks.
There’s no guarantee these perks will be added to the game, as they could be cut content from development. Of course, they could also be planned content coming later in the game’s lifecycle.
How to get Red Dead Online standalone
Rockstar has announced that Red Dead Online will be a standalone game. Here’s how to get your copy.
New players can purchase Red Dead Online as a standalone game separately from Red Dead Redemption 2 following Rockstar’s announcement. You can get the full multiplayer experience at a low initial price.
Red Dead Online’s world is always changing, allowing players to saddle-up and pursue new adventures in the American frontier. The multiplayer aspect of the game allows you to meet other outlaws that you can challenge or work with to accomplish missions.
Rockstar Games has announced that Red Dead Online will no longer just be part of the multiplayer for RDR2. You will be able to purchase it as a standalone game starting December 1.
The game can be purchased from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Launcher, Epic Games Store, and Steam for just $4.99. This 75% discount stands until February 15, 2021; then, the game cost will increase to $20. This is quite a bargain and one that’s sure to draw in new players.
You will need to be able to connect to the online multiplayer so make sure your console has a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription. You can also unlock the Red Dead Redemption 2 campaign separately for an additional cost.
Playing Red Dead Online’s standalone edition will take up about 123GB of disk space. The world of Red Dead has become open to new players that will be able to take part in all upcoming events and play whichever Specialist roles they want.
Rockstar has also confirmed a Bounty Hunters Role Expansion within the coming weeks. This will add new criminals, gear, and skills for both new and old players to unlock. In addition to 10 more Bounty Hunter ranks, players will also face new Legendary Bounties and a 100 Rank Outlaw Pass.
For added incentive, all Bounty Hunter missions in Red Dead Online are will award double XP throughout the week, so be sure to spring for them!
How to see players through walls in Call of Duty Warzone
These watches are allowing players to see their enemies through walls in Call of Duty: Warzone.
Players have taken notice that a certain player item can make enemies stand out through walls.
Detecting players in Warzone has always been up to keeping a close eye on your radar and listening to footsteps, trying to get every edge you can against your opponent.
However, you might actually be giving yourself a significant disadvantage in Warzone without even noticing, allowing other players to see you through walls.
In a reddit post by Twitch streamer and Tik-Toker Jetskji, he shows us – in a quite entertaining and hilarious format, how this glitch works.
The glitch revolves around the usage of the “Time of Season” or “Strange Magic” digital watches, given out during The Haunting Of Verdansk event. This seems to be a purely visual glitch, where the game fails to stop the watch from shining through surfaces.
If you have a keen eye, you will spot players wearing this watch through walls. It may seem hard to notice, but small signs of an enemy player like a green light through a wall may be just enough to get an early edge against an opponent.
If you have been using this watch and have been shot through a wall or detected before another player would have known your location, this might be the culprit.
Jetskji appropriately refers to the watch as the “Green Watch of Death,” since this also stretches to the Orange watches, we suppose we can coin them the “Glowing Watches of Death.”
With Season 1 of Black Ops Cold War coming to Warzone, hopefully, Infinity Ward can fix this before the huge update. Season 1 for Warzone and Black Ops Cold War should include a new “Classified” event, the unification of a new progression system across Call of Duty titles, and the introduction of Black Ops Cold War weapons.
We’ll update you if we see a patch come to this glitch before the beginning of the next season.
