‘Double Pump’ glitch found in Fortnite Season 5

Double Pumping has been out of the game for a while, but this new Fortnite Season 5 strategy could bring it back.

Published

on

You can use The Dub shotgun to “Double Pump” in Fortnite Season 5. This is either a bug or a new feature that Epic Games has implemented.

Now that Fortnite Season 4 is officially over, we’ve shifted back from superpowers to guns. Season 5 is filled to the brim with exciting content, including different weapon types. Exotic guns are a new addition to Fortnite, and one of these is called ‘The Dub.’

This is a new variant of the Double Barrel Shotgun, but it comes with the Flint-Knock Pistol’s knockback capabilities. You can purchase this weapon at Compact Cars but it will be ludicrously expensive due to its rarity.

The Dub will become more prevalent later in the season as players earn more Gold Bars. One different thing about this weapon is that it doesn’t have the switching cooldown between shotguns.

The shotgun cooldown timer is a feature that was introduced during the first Chapter of Fortnite. It’s meant to keep players from Double Pumping, a strategy that involves picking up two Pump Shotguns and quickly switching between each one after firing.

Since the The Dub doesn’t have the switching cooldown between shotguns, you can use this strategy to bypass the low magazine size. You can also combine it with Tac or Charge for added speed.

This strategy can be seen in action in a clip by Fortnite YouTuber, OrangeGuy, below.

At the moment, we’re not sure this is a bug or a feature that the developers intentionally added to the game. The former is probably the case, as this strategy has been increasingly nerfed since Season 3 to the point that it became impossible to perform.

Epic Games haven’t addressed this issue, so it probably hasn’t come to their attention yet. If they announce anything related to the Double Pump, then we’ll update you.

Will Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2 have a live event finale?

According to data miners following the v20.40 update, Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2 will end with a live event.

Data miners have discovered strings that appear to prove there will be a season-ending live event finale. Leaker FNBRintel has discovered a ton of strings for the event, which include an in-game countdown and a way for streamers to use DMCA-free music during it.

Another leaker, FortTory, has also said that there will be a pre-event lobby where “we can expect some animations and sequences” before the main event. However, they won’t say anything more for now.

New skins for Paradigm and Jonesy have also been found in the patch notes, and Shiina believes they’ll have a part to play in the live event finale. They also leaked that there will be “multiple cosmetics available for the event.”

When is Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2’s live event finale?

Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2’s live event should go live on the last day of the season, which is set to be on June 3.

Once the event concludes, there’s set to be “an extended downtime,” with a “waiting screen similar to previous events.” There’s no way of knowing how long the downtime will last at the time of writing, though.

Doomsday Device arrives at Loot Lake with Fortnite 20.40 update

Fortnite data miners have discovered that Fortnite’s 20.40 update has brought the Doomsday Device to Loot Lake, and it appears to tie in with a live event that we’ll see in Chapter 3 Season 3.

The Doomsday Device is a huge tower at Loot Lake’s shore, surrounded by small buildings that’ll be perfect for looting. Popular leaker HYPEX said: “The Doomsday Device is set to have some periodic pulses that either enable glider redeploy, low gravity or extra speed,” but they explained that these features might not make it into the update.

Sideways Showdown Week in Fortnite 20.40 update

Wild Weeks are back for the last few weeks of Fortnite Season 2, with the Sideways weapons returning as part of 20.40’s Sideways Showdown.

The Sideways Rifle and Sideways Minigun have returned and can be found as floor loot and in chests. With no Cube Monster Parts to upgrade them, you can now just take them to an Upgrade Bench.

There’s a new set of challenges and you’ll have until May 24 to complete them before the next Wild Week.
