Dr Disrespect’s DEADROP: Extraction shooter gameplay, developers, more

Popular streamer Dr Disrespect launched Midnight Society to develop his own game, so here’s everything we know about DEADROP.

Dr Disrespect's battle royale game

Mustachioed FPS streamer Dr Disrespect has co-founded his own studio to develop a shooter to rival Warzone, Apex Legends, Tarkov, and more. Here’s everything we know about Midnight Society’s DEADROP, and what the Two-Time’s very own game could look like.

Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV, better known as Dr Disrespect, is one of the most popular streamers in the world. Known for his mullet, mustache, and shades, Dr Disrespect plays a variety of the most popular FPS games, although he offers intense criticism from time to time.

A former game developer, Dr Disrespect has now launched Midnight Society, a studio that’s developing a game to rival the most popular shooters and battle royale games.

With an early build in the wild, here’s everything we know about Dr Disrespect’s DEADROP, including the extraction-based gameplay, developers, and how NFTs are involved.

Does Dr Disrespect’s DEADROP have a release date?

DEADROP is still in the early stages of development and there’s no word on when the game could be released. However, a July blog post confirmed that playable builds of the game will drop every six weeks, allowing players to test the game and help in its development.

The first “Snapshot” went live on July 29, allowing Access Pass holders to play a section of the game. This is part of their unique development style, for which they’ve coined the term ‘Day Zero Community.’

This will have players involved early in the development process where they could be “testing reload times and recoil patterns in a firing range or jumping in for the first-ever PVP sessions.”

Dr Disrespect’s DEADROP gameplay & features

Dr Disrespect’s game, DEADROP, is set to be the first-ever “Vertical Extraction Shooter.” Previously, the devs revealed that it’s “the next AAA competitive PvPvE first-person shooter” that’s built “from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5.”

Senior developer Robert Bowling explained that DEADROP “combines the map design of an arena shooter with the large scale and player counts of a Battle Royale (with some element of last man standing) but with the session-to-session persistence and ability to extract early.”

DEADROP is unique in that the action will take place over several floors of a skyscraper, with Doc teasing that fire acts as the ‘circle’ that pushes players together as more and more die off.

Escape from Tarkov is often regarded as the blueprint for extraction-style games, where players load into a map with their own loadout and must loot and fight other players to find the best gear, and only get to keep what they extract with. Call of Duty is set to throw its hat in the ring with Modern Warfare 2’s DMZ mode, and DEADROP could be another competitor.

DEADROP is also set to be focused on competitive play, with the developers confirming that “the pros, the players, the teams, the content creators,” will get insight into “design decisions, feature prioritizing, and balancing discussions when that feedback could be used.”

Dr Disrespect’s DEADROP platforms

Currently, DEADROP’s “Snapshots” are only available to PC players with the Access Pass Founders NFT. However, you’ll need a powerful rig to be able to handle this early build.

While there are plans to bring DEADROP to consoles in the future, it’ll be “a bit longer” until the console builds go live. However, the “second Snapshot will have 100% controller support, so that we can be ready for consoles.”

They explained that they “need to work through console certification with [Xbox and PlayStation], we’re working through it with them as fast as we can.”

What could Dr Disrespect’s DEADROP be inspired by?

Dr Disrespect will play almost anything where you can shoot a gun, but he lives by the motto “Violence, Speed, Momentum,” and looks for it in the games he plays.

After finding success in PUBG, Dr Disrespect is all over anything in the battle royale genre and keeps coming back to Escape from Tarkov. He believes that traditional multiplayer games such as Halo Infinite needs a battle royale to survive. However, he’s been extremely critical of Warzone over the past couple of years, slamming its aim assist, server issues, lack of map changes, audio, and more.

In a stream from June 27, the Doc stated that the game will be inspired by the games that he and the developers play, “whether it’s a battle royale game, whether it’s a survival game, whether it’s an extraction shooter kind of experience…this game that we’re building is going to sort of grab a lot of inspiration from all these different genres and we’re gonna kind of create our own PVP/PVE narrative and experience.”

Dr Disrespect’s DEADROP developers

Dr Disrespect launched Midnight Society along with two industry titans, Robert Bowling and Quinn DelHoyo.

Bowling is a former Infinity Ward dev who oversaw the release of each game in the original Modern Warfare trilogy. He’s since worked with gaming and esports companies such as NRG and EA, but is now co-founder and Studio Head of Midnight Society.

DelHoyo is a former Gears of War and Halo developer who has held a number of roles such as Multiplayer Designer, Lead Weapons Designer, and Sandbox Designer. He’s now co-founder and Creative Director of Midnight Society.

Here’s the rest of the Midnight Society team:

  • Sumit Gupta – CEO and co-founder
  • Ryan Thompson – Gameplay Engineer
  • Eric Hallquist – Concept Artist
  • H. B. Duran – Marketing & PR
  • Darren Bacon – Studio Art Director
  • Greg Cox – Environment Artist
  • Ha Viet Nguyen – Central Tech Director
  • Rohit Gupta – Advisor
  • Lucy Lui – Community
  • Nick Engle – Community

With the talent Dr Disrespect’s game has on board, we could see elements of Call of Duty, Gears of War, and Halo, with a focus on esports.

How are NFTs involved in DEADROP?

Midnight Society made the controversial decision to include NFTs in DEADROP, with the studio partnering with Polygon to “promote player ownership.”

10,000 “Founders Pass” NFTs were dropped, giving players access to DEADROP as well as a procedurally generated profile picture that can be traded on crypto marketplaces.

Exactly how large of a role NFTs will play in DEADROP remains to be seen, but Dr Disrespect responded to the backlash by confirming that you don’t have to own an NFT to play the game. “You can’t buy your way to win,” he confirmed.

Hogwarts Legacy release date

Hogwarts Legacy’s release date is officially confirmed as February 10, 2023, for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players. The game was previously slated for a Holiday 2022 release, but the devs explained that they needed a little bit more time to polish their product.

Potterheads won’t have to wait too long for the release of Hogwarts Legacy, but it is important to note that the game will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC as of February 10, 2023, but not the Nintendo Switch.

The release date for the Nintendo Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy has yet to be revealed. Considering that the devs claimed it would be revealed soon, it will likely be some time after February 10.

Hogwarts Legacy gameplay details

Prior to the massive gameplay reveal trailer, developers Avalanche Software teased that the game would take place in the 1800s. According to the devs this was a conscious decision to prevent your wizarding story to be overshadowed by a certain modern-day wizarding hero.

As the protagonist, your character will be tasked with investigating a gobline-led rebellion. The goblins have allied with dark wizards and you’ll have to take on some dangerous foes along the way. Hogwarts Legacy will allow you to explore Hogwarts’ massive grounds as well as many surrounding areas.

Wizard character customization

Players will have the opportunity to fully customize their character for this grand adventure. Once you’ve created your character, you’ll arrive at Hogwarts as a new student. Naturally, this means the Sorting Hat will place you in one of the four Hogwarts houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin.

Life as a Hogwarts student

Once you’ve been placed in a Hogwarts house, you’ll have access to your dorms and begin to attend classes. From Potions to Defense Against the Dark Arts you’ll attempt to hone your wizarding skills all while making new friends along the way.

As a student, you’ll be able to create bonds with classmates that could prove valuable in learning new skills later in the game.

Hogwarts Legacy RPG elements

As you attempt to tackle the dark secrets that await you outside of the castle, you’ll certainly grow as a wizard. You’ll be able to upgrade your talents and abilities with the experience points you’ve earned from completing challenges.

Players will also be able to upgrade their catalog of spells making them more effective and powerful as they progress through the game.

In Hogwarts Legacy, combat between wizards will include the use of offensive and defensive spells but that’s not all. Players can also brew powerful potions to give them an advantage when facing enemies.

Is Hogwarts Legacy on Xbox Game Pass?

At this moment, there is no indication that Hogwarts Legacy will appear on Xbox Game Pass. The game will be available to purchase on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

There are sure to be graphical differences in the game between console generations. Xbox Game Pass members would love to see Hogwarts Legacy available on the service and the devs will likely address its availability as we get closer to the February 2023 release.

Hogwarts Legacy reveal trailer

Avalanche Software treated players to a gameplay trailer on March 17. The nearly 15-minute trailer showcased the most in-depth look at Hogwarts Legacy yet. The trailer unveils several key aspects of the game as it details the plot, combat elements, RPG elements, and of course a massive overview of the world you’ll be able to explore.

FIFA 23 players can’t play beta after crashing & connection errors: How to fix

While FIFA 23 players were excited to play the beta, crashing and connection errors are ruining the fun. Here’s how to fix the errors on PS5.

Published

on

Several players are reporting that they cannot access the FIFA 23 beta due to crashing and connection errors. If you’re hoping to get a first look at the new game, here’s how to fix FIFA 23’s beta bugs.

FIFA 23’s close beta went live on August 11 and countless players rushed to their platforms to get a first look at EA Sports’ new iteration of the franchise. Unfortunately, a considerable amount of players were met with FIFA 23 beta bugs that prevented them from accessing the game.

This is far from an ideal situation as the beta is only available until September 1. It seems the luck of players who were fortunate enough to receive a code for the closed beta is beginning to change.

However, there’s no real reason to worry as we’ll provide a fix for the FIFA 23 beta errors to get you back into matches.

It turns out there are a few separate FIFA 23 beta errors that are ruining the fun at the moment. One of the errors leads to the game crashing after players attempt to open the FIFA 23 application. This one is particularly frustrating as players can’t even get to the main menu to access any of the modes on offer.

Meanwhile, other players can access the menu but cannot play any modes, including the Kick-Off mode that should be available to everyone. With the player unable to select a mode, the FIFA 23 beta becomes utterly useless.

How to fix FIFA 23 beta errors on PS5

To fix the connection and crashing errors for FIFA 23’s beta you have to delete friends on your PlayStation account until you have less than 100. The issues were primarily impacting players on PS5.

This should work for PS5 players, while others are reporting that completing training matches eventually unlocks other modes. It seems there are more than a few bugs that players have to deal with. For the time being the method above is your best bet until the devs address these issues.

EA have yet to comment, but with the FIFA 23 beta available until September 1, there’s no doubt that they will work on delivering a fix for players soon.

Apex Legends Season 14 is here, but which Legends are dominating Season 14 of Respawn’s battle royale so far?

Published

on

Season 14 of Apex Legends has tons of characters to choose from to enjoy its several maps. But who has the top Season 14 pick rates in Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale shooter?

Apex Legends hit the ground running when it launched with eight different characters to choose from in its battle royale offering. The game suffered a notable lull when Call of Duty: Warzone launched, but with many popular streamers such as NICKMERCS and Dr Disrespect continuing to support the game, Apex has grown expeditiously.

There are now a whopping 22 different Legends to choose from, giving players a headache before each game. With Season 14 now here, the new Legend Vantage has already knocked some fan-favorite characters out of the running.

Let’s see how the current roster’s pick rates are looking to give us an idea of the most popular Legends in Apex Legends Season 14.

Apex Legends Season 14 pick rate ranked list

This is our complete list of every character pick in Apex Legends, and we’ve ranked them in order to let you know which are favored.

Here is every Apex Legends pick rate in Season 14 ranked, as of August 12, 2022, according to Apex Legends Status:

  1. Vantage – 11.7%
  2. Octane – 10.1%
  3. Wraith – 9.3%
  4. Bloodhound – 7.8%
  5. Pathfinder – 7.8%
  6. Valkyrie – 6.8%
  7. Horizon – 5.5%
  8. Bangalore – 4.5%
  9. Lifeline – 4.3%
  10. Seer – 3.9%
  11. Loba – 3.5%
  12. Fuse – 3%
  13. Ash – 3%
  14. Mirage – 2.6%
  15. Mad Maggie – 2.6%
  16. Newcastle – 2.3%
  17. Caustic – 2.3%
  18. Revenant – 2.2%

  22. Crypto – 1.3%

Most picked Legends in Apex Legends Season 14

5. Pathfinder – 7.8%

Pathfinder has consistently been one of Apex Legends’ top five picks at 7.8%, and counting, for quite some time now.

As a Recon class, Pathfinder simply excels in movements and traversing the game’s various maps. His Grappling Hook and Zipline Gun are simply invaluable assets that will help any team in a pinch – either because of the circle or a third-party situation. He consistently manages to stay in the top 5 as a result.

4. Bloodhound – 7.8%

Again, with the influx of new Apex Legends players, Bloodhound is a great character to use for new players in Season 14.

Bloodhound nearly always stays in and around the 8-11% mark the seasons go on, and they have dropped slightly to 7.8%. Don’t let that put you off though, as they are easily the top Recon class to use in Apex Legends, thanks to their tracking tools and incredible skills, plus, their Beast of the Hunt Ultimate is priceless.

3. Wraith – 9.3%

Another starting Legend, Wraith has been a consistent pick throughout Apex Legends’ lifetime, and she has taken the number three with a 9.3% pick rate in Season 14.

Wraith’s stand-out features are her ability to get out of trouble very quickly – teammates included. Her abilities allow her to sense danger, become temporarily invulnerable, and create portals to escape predicaments. It’s easy to see why Wraith continues to be an absolute fan favorite in Apex Legends Season 14.

2. Octane – 10.1%

With a 10.1% pick rate, the speed demon has been dropped to the number two spot but continues his reign as one of the most popular Legends in Season 14, fluctuating between the top two places.

Aside from his amusing quips, he is the perfect balance of offense and defense. Despite being regarded as an offensive Legend, Octane can greatly increase his sprint speed which is useful for both attack and running away.

But most Octane users thrive on his Launch Pad Ultimate which can send him, and friendly players, high up into the air.

1. Vantage – 11.7% – Most picked Legend in Apex Legends Season 14

Of course, it’s the brand-new Legend Vantage that takes the top spot in Apex Legends Season 14. With an 11.7% pick rate, Vantage has stolen the show from other top Legends such as Octane and Valkyrie.

Vantage’s incredible popularity is probably due to her being new, but she’s not to be trifled with either. Her Sniper Rifle is an incredibly strong weapon, she’s able to wall run, and has a direct counter to Mirage.

How her pick rate will change throughout Season 14 remains to be seen, but she’s well-worth using on the overhauled Kings Canyon.

That covers all the picks in Apex Legends Season 14. As always, buffs and nerfs will come and go throughout the season, altering the game’s meta, and subsequently, Legend pick rates.

We’ll be sure to keep this updated regularly so you can stay on top of the in picks and don’t forget to check out why Mad Maggie has climbed up the rankings this season.
