Dr Disrespect explains why he’s so excited for Battlefield 6’s Warzone competitor
YouTube streamer Dr Disrespect is no stranger to battle royales, and the leader of the Champions Club has been explaining why he has high hopes for Battlefield 6 as frustrations continue to grow with Call of Duty: Warzone.
“Violence, speed, and momentum” is the iconic catchphrase of Dr Disrespect, and no game genre captures what the Doc is all about more than battle royales. From H1Z1 to PUBG, the Two-Time has spent years outlasting and dominating opponents.
Like many, the latest BR to capture the Doc’s attention is Warzone, but with the game struggling under the weight of bugs like the “no-glint” Sniper Rifle and never-ending update loops on consoles, there is a real appetite for a competitor to shake up the genre.
Rumors have been swirling about a second Battlefield BR mode, and it seems they have caught the attention of Doc, who explained why he was excited to get his hands on it, believing that DICE have learned from the mistakes of Battlefield V’s Firestorm.
After another frustrating day of Warzone on April 9, Dr Disrespect broke down why he’s looking forward to Battlefield’s next battle royale, claiming that DICE had no intentions of supporting Firestorm, and stating that the development team’s skill at making large maps could be important.
“I’m excited for Battlefield’s BR,” the Two-Time stated. “It’s a $120 billion industry and Warzone’s taken over this whole genre. [Firestorm] was like a pre-pre-alpha of it. ‘Let’s just get something out there, we won’t support it at all,’ and that’s exactly what they did.”
“I can tell you they didn’t give it any attention. I have a feeling that they’re really going to bring it for this next Battlefield. It’s going to be fast, explosive. I don’t know how much influence vehicles will have on the fights, but they do a really good job on bigger maps on how they balance some of that out.”
Neither EA nor DICE have officially confirmed that Battlefield 6 will have a battle royale mode on launch, but with the success of Warzone, alongside EA’s Apex Legends, it seems quite unlikely that they wouldn’t include one in their top FPS franchise.
Whether they learn from the disappointing release of Firestorm remains to be seen though. The mode was highly anticipated, but a lack of developer support and issues with the looting system saw fans drop it fairly quickly, with Warzone exploding in popularity just a few months later.
Despite all this, Dr Disrespect is desperate to get his hands on a Battlefield 6 battle royale, but whether it can truly compete with Call of Duty’s BR king remains to be seen.
