Dr Disrespect says the AUG is worse than the DMR meta

Streamer Dr Disrespect has explained why he believes Warzone Season 2’s AUG meta has put the game in a worse state than when the DMR was king, calling the Cold War weapon “technically broken.”

Since Black Ops Cold War’s integration with Warzone, the 1980s weapons have dominated the meta. In Season 1, the MAC-10 SMG and akimbo Diamattis were the only weapons to use at close-range, but the DMR 14 was also on everyone’s mind. After weeks of calling for the DMR to be nerfed, in which Warzone was nicknamed ‘DMRZone,’ it was finally adjusted by Raven Software.

Now, the FFAR 1 and, more importantly, the AUG runs the show in Warzone Season 2, and Dr Disrespect has joined the chorus of players requesting the Tactical Rifle to be nerfed, explaining why he believes this meta is worse than the DMR’s.

Warzone AUG

In a stream on March 26, Doc and his regular Warzone duo ZLaner discussed which meta they believed was worse. While ZLaner believed the DMR was more frustrating, Doc argued the case for the AUG putting Warzone in a worse state.

Doc believes that while the DMR being broken in the sense of weapon tuning, the AUG is “technically broken.”

“The gun is broken in the sense that it is not designed for the tech of this engine and the servers, these 12 tick servers,” Dr Disrespect described.

Discussion begins at 3:55:07

He then later explained his reasoning with an example of one of his deaths to the AUG. “This guy was standing there, I knew he had the AUG because he was shooting at you. I peeked him with a sniper, I think I shot him or missed a shot. By the time I strafed behind the truck, I was knocked. I look at his killcam, two bursts to knock me and I didn’t receive any of that information. None.”

Dr Disrespect firmly believes that there’s a wider problem where “there’s something technically wrong with having the AUG in the game the way it’s tuned.”

With Warzone’s mid-Season 2 update round the corner, perhaps nerfs will knock the AUG from its pedestal to make way for a new long-range weapon to dominate the game.

Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 3

We’ve almost reached the end of Warzone and Black Ops Cold War Season 2, so when does Season 3 begin, and what does it have in store?

Ever since the integration of Black Ops Cold War into Warzone, we’ve seen a vast number of additions and changes to both games. The subsequent updates have allowed Verdansk to expand with Rebirth Island, and even incorporate Zombies into Warzone.

The Zombies invasion of Verdansk is about to reach a climax, and the highly-anticipated Season 3 of both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone is set to begin.

Here’s everything you need to know about Warzone and Cold War Season 3, including the release date, new weapons, and Operators.

Warzone & Cold War Season 3 start date

Black Ops Cold War and Warzone S3 roadmap

We’re now reaching the climax of Warzone Season 2, with Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 2 set to begin on April 22.

This will follow the highly-anticipated nuke event which is set to destroy modern-day Verdansk, bringing a major overhaul to the map in Season 3.

Black Ops Cold War has already received its Season 3 update, with slide-canceling having been removed, although the new content won’t be released until the Season goes live on April 22.

Warzone’s update will begin on April 21 at 9 PM PT, ahead of Season 3’s launch.

When is CoD: Warzone Season 2’s nuke event?

Warzone Season 2 nuke event

Zombies have now overrun Verdansk and Radiation Zones have consumed all of the areas that became infected over the course of Season 2.

This is set to culminate in a season-ending event on April 21, in which players are advised to “evacuate immediately.” This event will be multi-part, with the final stage beginning at 12 PM PT on April 22.

Here are the start times for the event:

  • 12 PM PT
  • 3 PM ET
  • 8 PM BST
  • 5 AM AEST (April 22)

As the different stages of the event are completed, the next objectives players will have to complete will be revealed.

After Warzone’s event has concluded, Season 3 of Black Ops Cold War and Warzone will officially begin.

Cold War & Warzone Season 3 weapons

Six new weapons have been confirmed for the Cold War and Warzone Season 3. Three will arrive at launch on April 22, and the other three will release over the course of the season.

The new weapons are as follows:

PPSH-41 SMG

Black Ops Cold War Warzone PPSH

The classic WW2 SMG, the PPSH-41, is making its debut in Cold War and Warzone Season 3’s free Battle Pass. Although having low damage per bullet, “its rapid-fire, high-capacity capabilities encourage an aggressive playstyle ideal for leading the charge in objective modes and clearing out tight spaces in Warzone.”

Swiss K31 Sniper Rifle

Swiss K31 in Cold War

A brand new bolt action will also arrive in Season 3’s Battle Pass – the Swiss K31. This will feel familiar to fans of the Kar98k as it has “exceptional accuracy, as well as fast rechamber and aiming speeds.” Expect this to be the perfect weapon for quickscoping in both Cold War and Warzone.

Ballistic Knife

Black Ops Cold War Ballistic Knife

Fans of the Black Ops series will be all-too-familiar with the power and fun of the Ballistic Knife. Doubling up as a “spring-action knife launcher” and a melee weapon, the Ballistic Knife is a fan favorite for Final Killcams and Play of the Game. This weapon won’t be in the Battle Pass, but will instead be released through a challenge yet to be revealed.

CARV.2, AMP63, and Baseball Bat

Black Ops Cold War and Warzone CARV2 Tactical Rifle

Three other weapons will release throughout Season 3. These are the CARV.2 Tactical Rifle, AMP63 SMG, and Baseball Bat Melee weapon. As with Season 2’s weapons, the E-Tool and ZRG 20mm, there will be challenges to unlock these new weapons when they release.

New Black Ops Cold War Season 3 maps

Maps often make or break a Call of Duty game, and Treyarch are adding four new maps to Cold War over the course of Season 3. There are three original maps, and the return of Black Ops 2’s Standoff, which is a favorite of competitive players and casual fans alike.

Black Ops Cold War Standoff map

Yamantau and Diesel will debut at the start of Season 3 on April 22. While Yamantau is exclusively played on 6v6, Diesel will be available for 6v6, 2v2, and 3v3 modes.

Then, later in the Season, Standoff will arrive, following the additions of Raid and Express in Seasons 1 and 2. And for fans of the large-scale mode, Duga will arrive for the Multi-Team modes, including the new Multi-Team Elimination mini battle royale.

New Cold War and Warzone Season 3 Operators

On top of all these exciting new weapons and maps, there are four new Operators arriving in Season 3 that will be playable in both Cold War and Warzone.

Captain Price Black Ops Cold War

At the launch of Season 3, Wraith will be available in the premium Battle Pass. This ex-Norwegian Intelligence Operator now working for Perseus will be available as soon as you purchase the Battle Pass, with a Legendary variant available at Tier 100.

Also, as a surprise treat for CoD fans, Captain Price will arrive in Cold War as a playable Operator. Called “Price ’84,” owners of Black Ops Cold War will get immediate free access to the fan-favorite Operator on April 22, and can take him into both Cold War multiplayer and Warzone.

Later in Season 3, Knight and Antonov will arrive, likely through Store Bundles. As the Season progresses, we’re likely to know more about these new Operators.

1980s revamp leaked for Warzone Season 3

We got a first look at what the next evolution of Verdansk will be in a celebrity commercial that was posted to Twitter. It showed the map getting a 1980s makeover with a specific focus on a few key areas.

Warzone's Verdansk Downtown

Stadium, Dam, Airport, and the surrounding forestry were the highlighted locations in the video, along with some changes in Downtown. Later, another possible teaser was discovered in Verdansk’s Superstore in the form of a poster for the 1980s Moscow Summer Olympics.

We expect more teasers for Season 3 to pop up around Verdansk and Cold War’s multiplayer, and the ones that have been found make Warzone’s 1980s overhaul seem all the more likely.

We’re only hours away from Warzone and Cold War Season 3, and its shaping up to be the biggest content drop yet.

Warzone devs already planning Season 6 & ‘several years’ of support

Call of Duty: Warzone is set to be supported for years with Infinity Ward confirming that Season 6 is already in development.

cod warzone season 6 dev

Infinity Ward’s Studio Heads have confirmed they have ‘long-term’ plans for Call of Duty: Warzone that extends for years, including Season 6 already.

In a statement that comes as a surprise to absolutely no one, Activision has confirmed that Warzone isn’t going away anytime soon. CoD’s take on battle royale continues to gather steam as we barrel towards the game’s potentially map-altering Season 2 nuke event.

Not only do we have copious amounts of details regarding Warzone’s impending Third Season, but it turns out that Warzone’s future for the next years is already being mapped out.

Infinity Ward’s co-studio heads, Patrick Kelly and Dave Stohl, spoke with the Washington Post this week as Warzone passed a new milestone: 100 million players.

In the interview, Kelly confirmed that Infinity Ward’s team is still involved with Call of Duty: Warzone’s high-level development and story progression.

He mentions that he & Stohl are currently finalizing the details for Season 6 of Warzone & Cold War, which will launch later this year.

Kelly confirmed that they have “broad stroke” plans for Call of Duty: Warzone for several years. Following the launch of Black Ops Cold War in 2020, Infinity Ward handed off a lot of the work of Warzone to Raven Software. Raven’s designers had worked with Infinity Ward since the start of Warzone’s development, but late last year, Raven took over public-facing communications of Warzone as well.

The Washington Post reports as part of their interview that “while Infinity Ward has for the moment handed off most of the “Warzone” maintenance work to Raven Software — designers from which, Stohl noted, worked with Infinity Ward from the outset of “Warzone’s” development and not just after the integration of “Black Ops Cold War” — Kelly and Stohl are currently working on the details for Season 6, which will begin in late 2021.

In the interview, Kelly also told them that the studio has “planned out Warzone’s broad strokes for several years into the future.”

Kelly stated that some of the things they are working on in Warzone takes “more time” and requires advance planning. He says that the team is working hard to “top” what they’ve done before in the Warzone world.

“Some things we want to do mode wise, geo wise, they take more time,” Kelly said. “So they naturally need to slot in later. But we do think about this on a multi-year basis. And I will tell you this: We’re doing our damnedest right now, to top [what’s come before].”

Activision executives confirmed that Call of Duty: Warzone will remain “front and center” in the Call of Duty universe for “years to come.”

When is Warzone’s nuke event? How to watch

Warzone’s rumored Season 2 nuke event is almost upon us, so here’s how to watch it, as well as the location and time – welcoming Season 3.

Published

Warzone nuke event season 2 season 3

The nuclear destruction of Verdansk is almost here, so here’s everything we know about Warzone Season 2’s nuclear event, including the time, location, and what may happen regarding Season 3 in the battle royale.

Call of Duty: Warzone Season 2 has been gearing towards an explosive finale for some time. Zombies have slowly been taking over Verdansk, and missile silos have appeared, seemingly, with the goal to destroy the undead.

Due to leaks and rumors, many believe that Verdansk will be nuked at the end of Season 2, and a recent teaser has given us a time and date for this devastating event.

Here’s everything we know about the imminent destruction of Verdansk heading into Warzone Season 3.

What is the Warzone Season 2 nuke event?

It’s been long leaked and theorized that a nuke will destroy Verdansk. After a nuclear bomb was discovered inside one of Verdansk’s bunkers, it’s long been expected that Verdansk will end in complete devastation.

Warzone Season 2 nuke event

Then, at the beginning of Season 2, missile silos appeared beneath memorials around Verdansk and Zombies landed on the shore. Warzone streamer NICKMERCS believed this would be the beginning of the nuke event, and that now appears to be correct.

Audio files were then leaked for a ‘Plague’ game mode that is believed to be the season-ending nuke event. From the audio, we can tell that Zombies have overrun Verdansk and it’s the players’ job to clear them out. The mode is set to end with the announcer stating: “Extraction canceled, nuke inbound for Verdansk.”

How to watch Warzone’s nuke event

Similar to Black Ops Cold War’s reveal in-game, players experience the event in-game. As Cold War’s reveal was the only live event we’ve had in Warzone to date, the nuke event will follow this format.

CoD Warzone Zombies

If you’re not able to play the nuke event yourself, Warzone’s top streamers such as NICKMERCS, Aydan, and Dr Disrespect will likely be streaming the event.

When is Warzone’s nuke event?

In a teaser trailer released to their Twitter page, Call of Duty gave us a time and date for the nuke event. They revealed that the event will occur on April 21 at 12 PM PT.

For the rest of the world, here are the times:

  • 12 PM PT
  • 3 PM ET
  • 8 PM BST
  • 5 AM AEST (April 22)

Make sure you log in to Call of Duty: Warzone ahead of time just in case there are server issues.

The Warzone Nuke event will be a multi-part event, starting at the above times and ending over 24 hours later on April 22 at 12PM Pacific.

Here’s a graphic showcasing the different times for each step, with more information on what each step is to be revealed as we get closer.

What are Warzone’s Nuclear Radiation Zones?

As we draw closer and closer to Verdansk’s nuke event, April 15 appears to have brought the beginning of the end.

Zombies arrived on Verdansk’s shore at the beginning of Season 2 when the Vodianoy cargo ship crash-landed on the coast by Prison. This started a Zombie outbreak, which has now reached the other side of the map.

That’s not all, however. The Zombies’ takeover of Verdansk has reached 100% and new Nuclear Radiation Zones have formed around Shipwreck and Prison. Red circles with a nuclear symbol grow outwards from these locations at the beginning of matches.

These are the first two zones that the Zombies took over, so we expect them to engulf Hospital, Downtown, Superstore, and TV Station as the week progresses.

Going into these zones will slowly kill you, similar to the ring of gas, but with a twist. If you die from the radiation, you will come back as a Zombie. Bear in mind, you will only become one of the undead in squads modes – not solos.

As the season draws to a close and more of the map is covered in Nuclear Radiation, it appears we truly have hit the beginning of the end.

Where in Verdansk is Warzone’s nuke event?

Teasers from Activision have confirmed that the Zombies’ invasion of Verdansk will culminate at Dam. They have been sending influencers teasers ahead of each Zombie location shift, and the latest revealed Dam was the next Zombie location.

The note accompanying a hard hat labeled with Dam said, “Once the hostiles reach here, we levee a guess that Verdansk is all but gone to the damned. April 21st 12PM.”

With Verdansk being “all but gone to the damned,” it’s safe to assume this is the beginning of the nuke event. From this, it’s likely that the nuke event will begin at Verdansk’s Dam.

What happens after Warzone’s nuke event?

The nuke’s devastation remains to be seen. Players may have to take shelter in one of the various bunkers around Verdansk and we’ll emerge to nuclear fallout. Or, Verdansk will be wiped off the face of the earth, forcing the game to head to a different area or time period, perhaps the leaked 1980s Verdansk.

Warzone Prison Bunker

Warzone could also do something similar to Fortnite’s season-ending live events. After the event has concluded, there is often a downtime before the next season begins. With the Warzone map expected to have such a big overhaul, it’s possible that the game will be offline for a while before the next season begins.

Will Warzone move to a new map?

As other battle royale games such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, and PUBG have several maps that evolve over time, it’s long been predicted that Warzone will be receiving another main map.

Cold War's Ural Mountains Alpine map

It was first predicted that Modern Warfare’s fictional setting, Urzikstan, would arrive in Warzone and bring with it classic Middle-East maps such as Crash, Afgan, and Invasion – but it never arrived.

Then, with the release of Black Ops Cold War, it was expected that the Ural Mountains would be the next location for Call of Duty’s Battle Royale. This theory was recently made less likely after a leak revealed the Ural Mountains map was designed for a scrapped “Blackout 2.0.”

Now, we understand that Warzone is set to give Verdansk a 1980s overhaul for Season 3. A celebrity commercial was leaked that showcased Verdansk in the 1980s. Stadium was still under construction and Dam was replaced by a viaduct. A poster for Moscow’s 1980 Olympics was found inside Superstore which has given more authenticity to this leak.

Although new Warzone maps will likely arrive down the line, it’s unlikely that the nuke event will usher in a brand new map. It’s more likely that Verdansk will receive its 1980s overhaul going into Season 3.

When is Warzone Season 3?

It’s expected that Warzone and Black Ops Cold War Season 3 will take place directly after the nuke event. From the Battle Pass’ end date, Season 2 is set to end on April 22. New seasons usually arrive right after the Battle Pass concludes, so we understand that Warzone Season 3 will begin on April 22, the day after the nuke event.

Aside from whatever happens with Warzone next, Black Ops should also be receiving new content such as weapons, maps, and Operators, although nothing has been revealed by Activision or Treyarch.

The Season will need to fix a couple of niggles that are currently causing some trouble in Warzone at the moment too. The controversial Sykov Pistols are a recent addition to Warzone Season 2 and have already been confirmed to be receiving a nerf.

Once its overpowered nature and incredible exploit are fixed, Raven Software will also need to focus on the frustrating glitch that is causing Warzone Victories to not count towards players’ overall total.

That’s everything we know about Verdansk’s nuke event! As more information is teased and released closer to the time, we’ll continue to update this article.
