Dr Disrespect has serious doubts over Warzone 2’s success
While streaming gameplay on Warzone Season 4’s new Fortune’s Keep map, Guy Beahm a.k.a. Dr Disrespect shared his doubts over the expected success of Warzone 2.
The Call of Duty franchise is set for a monumental end to 2022 with both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 set to launch before the year comes to a close. Call of Duty fans already received glimpses of Modern Warfare 2, but for the most part, Warzone 2 remains a mystery.
There’s no denying that the battle royale’s secretive state is slowly building hype for the game, and players’ expectations are mounting. However, popular streamer Dr Disrespect believes it’s best to temper those expectations as he voices concerns over Warzone 2’s success.
The Doc has been critical of the Call of Duty franchise in the past when it comes to their incredibly popular battle royale. While streaming Fortune’s Keep gameplay, Dr Disrespect took a moment to discuss the upcoming Warzone 2 release.
The Doc foresees a positive initial reaction to Warzone 2, but he claims that the interest in the game will decline after a hot start, “I can see some initial hype but nothing like the original Warzone map and the original Verdansk. I just don’t see it. I think what we see is the slow decline.”
The Two-time doesn’t believe that the sequel will come anywhere close to the popularity of peak Warzone in Verdansk.
His concerns seem to stem from the belief that the engine used to create Warzone 2 is outdated, “Unless they come up with something crazy, I don’t know man. I just don’t think the engine can be pushed any further, it’s maxed out.”
It’s clear that the star streamer thinks the Call of Duty team is going to need a miracle to captivate players for as long as the original Warzone did.
It’s this lack of longevity that The Doc is worried about when it comes to Warzone 2, “In terms of its legs and how far it will run, I don’t think it’ll run as far as the Verdansk energy.”
