EA FC 25 will welcome 14 new Heroes to the roster, all of whom will receive two dynamic card designs for their Origin and Prime variants.
This year’s class is headlined by Premier League legend Eden Hazard, who many expected to appear as an Icon in the game. The Belgian is credited for carrying Chelsea’s frontline on his back for several years and picking up two Premier League titles and 100 MOTM awards along the way.
Another notable inclusion is Inter Milan’s cult hero, Maicon. During his heyday, the Brazilian was regarded as the best full-back in Europe, capable of darting down the channels and being bullish in duels. He ended his career with four Serie A titles and a memorable UCL-winning campaign to his name.
Real Madrid hero Guti also makes the cut this year. A ‘streets won’t forget’ player if there ever was one, from trickery on the ball to thunderous strikes, the Spaniard had it all in his locker. He scored numerous clutch goals and earned cult-hero status.
New FC 25 Icons confirmed
Gianluigi Buffon (Italy)
The first new Icon revealed for EA FC 25 is Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon. EA Sports confirmed the goalkeeper’s arrival via the Ultimate Edition cover.
Buffon is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers ever to grace the game, after making over 1,000 career appearances for Parma, Juventus, PSG, and the national team.
After hanging up his gloves in August 2023, fans have been desperate for the popular stopper to be added as an Icon. While his retirement came too late for inclusion in last year’s games, their wishes have been answered this time around.

Gareth Bale (Wales)
Although he became a divisive figure towards the end of his career with Real Madrid, there’s no doubt that Wales’ Gareth Bale is one of the best wingers in recent memory. After bursting onto the scene with Southampton and later Spurs, he won everything there is to win with Los Blancos, including five Champions Leagues.
Nadine Angerer
Former Germany national team captain, Nadine Angerer, has been leaked to appear as an Icon in the upcoming title. The decorated goalkeeper was a reliable presence in the dominant German side that lifted back-to-back World Cup titles along with five successive Euros. Angerer looks set to be the first female goalkeeper Icon in the series’ history.
Julie Foudy
Building further on the roster of women’s Icons in Ultimate Team, USA legend Julie Foudy is also being tested for EA FC 25 according to leaks. The midfielder represented her country 274 times throughout her glittering career, earning her a spot in the National Soccer Hall of Fame.
Marinette Pichon
French Icon and activist, Marinette Pichon could be making her first appearance in the franchise this year. The forward hung up her boots at just 31 but managed to leave quite the impact, scoring an astonishing 81 goals in just 112 matches. She’s currently ranked as the second-highest goal-scorer in France women’s football history and well-worthy of the Icon status.
Aya Miyama
Alongside FC 24 Icon Homare Sawa, Aya Miyama is most notably known for her contribution to Japan’s historic 2011 World Cup campaign. The midfielder scored the opening goal in the final and also earned a spot in the team of the tournament. Besides the World Cup honor, Miyama also has an Olympic Silver Medal to her name.
Lotta Schelin
Sweden’s all-time record goalscorer, Lotta Schelin, could be coming to the game. The striker had a remarkable career that saw her pick up plenty of silverware including 3 UWCL crowns, 8 Division 1 titles, and 5 Coupe de France honours. She netted 88 goals for Sweden along the way, with a further 143 goals for Lyon.
Lilian Thuram
Lilian Thuram’s introduction as an Icon always felt inevitable and leaks have suggested that the Frenchman will finally join the roster in EA FC 25. Part of the star-studded team that won the 1998 World Cup, Thuram was a defensive powerhouse who earned legendary status at Parma, Monaco, and Juventus.
The center-back ranked high among the best defenders in Europe during his prime, and it would be great to see him finally appear in the game.
A post from leaker FGZNews on August 18 revealed some of the players set to feature in an upcoming Icons trailer. While all of the Icons listed above are expected to appear, Lilian Thuram was absent from the list. We expect the trailer to reveal more information about the debuting Icons and we’ll be sure to provide an update once it arrives.
