Women’s Career Mode

You can manage your favorite women’s teams in FC 25.

With Women’s players being integrated into EA FC 24 Ultimate Team, it always felt like a Women’s Career Mode would be the next logical step. EA FC 25 offers exactly that as you’ll be able to start a Manager or Player Career Mode with your favorite stars or teams from the top five Women’s football leagues. The leagues you’ll able to pick from include:

  • Women’s Super League
  • NWSL
  • D1 Arkemma
  • Liga F
  • Frauen-Bundesliga

The UWCL will also be present in Career Mode so feel free to lead your side to European glory.

FC IQ

EA FC 25 brings a much-needed tactical revamp to the series, with Player Roles and Team Tactics being added to the game in favor of Work Rates and Player Instructions. All this falls under the label of FC IQ, and while it’s present across all game modes, the premise is best suited for Career Mode.

Through the new system, you’ll be able to create custom tactical setups more effectively by assigning different roles to players. If you want to play a standard 4-3-3 with your CDM dropping into defense, you can assign to them the Center Half Player Role. Similarly, you can ask your midfielders to play further up the pitch like Advanced 8s using the Half-Winger role.

The success your players have in these roles hinges on their familiarity with them. You can improve this stat by hiring coaches that align with your team’s Tactical Vision.

Live Start Points

EA FC 25 Career Mode start options
Live Start Points recreate real-life scenarios for you.

One of the most intriguing features coming to Career Mode, Live Start Points allows you to start a new save based on the state of a real-life season. These Start Points will be updated weekly, taking into account league standings, results, transfers, statistics, suspensions, etc from ongoing competitions like the Premier League, LaLiga, Ligue 1, and more.

For instance, if newly-promoted Ipswich manage to go top of the table on GW4, you’ll be able to jump in from that point and guide them to glory. Alternatively, if Everton are caught in a relegation scrap with four games to go, you can swoop in like a hero and keep the Toffees in the top flight.

Live Start Points will help you spot the most promising narratives in the football world. How these stories end will be entirely up to you.

It’s worth noting that this feature will not be available at launch, and will instead be added through a future update.

Icons in Player Career

Jude Bellingham and Zidane in EA FC 25
Make past and present collide by starting an Icon Player Career mode.

Player Career Mode in EA FC 25 will let you play as Icons in a modern setting. You’ll inherit the various stats, PlayStyles, and Player Roles assigned to these legends and write history using them at a club of your choice.

At launch, Andrea Pirlo, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Kelly Smith, and Thierry Henry will be available in Career Mode. Ultimate Edition owners will have access to the Galatico trio of David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, and Ronaldo.

Youth Academy revamp

The Youth system in EA FC 24 left plenty to be desired, and EA are responding to these complaints in a number of ways. For starters, you can now send scouts out to 160 countries. Beyond this expansion, you can ask scouts to look for up to four positions and three focus roles.

The youth prospects will also look their age and their facial features will grow older as they age. Speaking of youth players, you can now play a direct role in their development instead of shipping them off on season-long loans. This is done through the new Rush mode which is integrated into Manager and Player Career.

You can organize tournaments every two months and play 5v5 games using your youth players. Here, you’ll have the option to use them with their current ratings or their maximum potential ratings to see if investing all that time in developing them will be worth it.

Player Origins

EA FC 25 Player Career Origin Stories
Origin Stories provide a background for your custom player.

As the name suggests, Player Origins give a backstory to your custom footballer. EA FC 25 will come with a variety of origin stories, all of which will shape your player’s personality and bring their own advantages and challenges. Here are all the Player Origins in the game:

  • Clean Slate
  • Great Expectations
  • Climb to the Top
  • Return to Glory

The names provide a fair idea of what their associated backstories are. You can also create your own story through the Custom Start option. In it, you’ll be able to select your player’s age, skill level as well as personality type.

With Player Origins, you’ll be able to control the narrative around your player more effectively.

Social Media changes

The Social Media section will have a bigger presence in EA FC 25 Career Mode. You’ll now see comments on your performance from users online alongside general chatter on what’s happening in the sport. Reputed publications will report on in-game news just as they do in real life. EA have also added transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who will break transfer stories with his signature ‘Here We Go.’

Match Intros and Morale

While not exactly a new feature, Match Intros will be back in Career Mode. Their removal from EA FC 24 attracted a barrage of criticism from fans and the devs responded to player feedback. The standard Morale system is also receiving some tweaks that change the focus towards finding “the sweet spot for player happiness.”

High morale no longer results in optimal performance since players can become too comfortable and get complacent. This affects their mental Attributes negatively, forcing you to manage your squad’s morale more strategically.

Customization options

Career Mode will come with new customization options that give players more control over their saves. For instance, you’ll now have access to gameplay balancing settings, allowing you to pick between a Realistic option, akin to real-life football, or the classic EA FC experience.

You can also manually add obstacles to your journey such as transfer embargoes or harsh board expectations. This also works inversely, as you can make things easier by removing managerial sackings and scouting, and speeding up player development.

Those were all the new Career Mode features to look forward to. If you want to learn more about the game, check out our ratings predictions and all the licenses in FC 25.
