EA Sports FC brought big changes to Ultimate Team, one of them being the inclusion of women’s players in the mode for the first time. In an interview with Dexerto, EA FC 24 developers explained the decision behind this integration.

EA FC 24 introduced a ton of fresh content, allowing fans to dive into an immersive football experience. These include various features added to Ultimate Team, the innovative Evolutions system, and enhancements to Career Mode.

However, the most significant change introduced this year is the inclusion of women’s players in Ultimate Team. This exciting development enables fans to construct diverse squads, featuring both female and male players side-by-side on the field.

Despite some initial backlash following the game’s reveal, the inclusion of women’s players in EA FC 24 has been welcomed since its official release. While they have given players breathless moments when opening packs, fans are now actively embracing the female talent within the game.

Creating the “world’s game” in EA FC 24 Ultimate Team

Although EA have acquired licenses for various leagues since 2015, with many anticipating the expansion of a Women’s UT mode, they’ve instead chosen to incorporate women into the existing EA FC 24 Ultimate Team in order to precisely create the “world’s game,” featuring both women and men together.

“Right from the beginning, it was important for us to think about Ultimate Team as one world, so again coming back to that ‘world’s game’ theme,” explained Garreth Reeder, Senior Producer on EA FC 24, during an interview with Dexerto.

“It’s been multiple years. Even some of the Chemistry changes were in preparation for some of these pieces… At the end of the day, it’s a big mix of what football is in the world. It’s what Ultimate Team is about, it’s about choice, fun, value, and being fair,” added John Shepherd, the game’s Executive Producer.

Both developers expressed their satisfaction with the immense potential of assembling an Ultimate Team squad across “whatever league, gender, [or] anything else you could bring to the table.” Additionally, Reeder said, “It’s just been amazing how people are thinking about putting squads together.”

Following this introductory year, fans are already anticipating an expansion of the female players’ lineup in future iterations of Ultimate Team, aiming to provide more options for assembling varied squads.
