EA FC 24 players claim “dumb” Evolutions can be improved with simple change

The Evolution upgrades have been a popular addition to EA FC 24 Ultimate Team, but fans have called out one “dumb” decision that is holding the feature back from greatness.

EA FC 24 is available worldwide and players have wasted no time starting their Ultimate Team journey. The popular mode has received an overhaul this year, with a new-look menu and the arrival of women’s players for the first time.

The marquee addition in EA FC 24 Ultimate Team is the Evolutions feature, which lets players upgrade their own low-rated cards by ticking off objectives. It’s a system that has been welcomed by the community, making previously unusable cards more viable in the meta.

However, EA FC 24 players feel that one simple change would make the feature more game-changing than it currently is. Reddit user predawnduke shared a post on the official subreddit asking EA to “remove the minimum rating requirements for evolutions.”

They said: “I don’t see a good reason why Evolutions exclude non-rare or non-gold players. I can’t use any of the Rangers players in the SBC or Scotland players and that’s just stupid in my opinion.”

Plenty of other players agreed in the comments, arguing that limiting the cards that can be used in Ultimate Team Evolutions goes against the idea of the feature, preventing them from using the cards they want in EA FC 24.

“It’s terrible. There’s not a single Sounders player that qualifies for Golden Glow Up,” said one reply. “How is that even possible, half of the team is bronze! Such a dumb system.”

Another fan tried to solve the problem by suggesting that rather than restricting the players that can be submitted into UT Evolutions, the upgrades themselves should be capped to give managers more freedom without upsetting the power curve.

“Just give us 85 rated at max as a requirement, and you can boost every player you want til they get 85 rated at max,” they replied. I want to use Elliott Jones or Bajcetic as a usable card at the start of the game, obviously, they ain’t gonna be meta, but at least they will be usable for me.”

Evolutions are still a new feature in EA FC 24 Ultimate Team, so only time will tell if the devs decide to change or lift the restrictions in a future update. As more promos and upgraded cards hit packs, fans clearly feel a tweak will be needed to keep the system relevant.
