EA FC 24 players score instantly as kick-off glitch returns: “New FIFA same broken mechanics”

EA FC 24 players have discovered the return of the kick-off glitch from FIFA 23, which allows players to score instantly.

There are many tricks of the trade in EA’s long-standing football franchise, and many of them remain after the rebranding from FIFA to EA Sports FC.

EA FC 24 officially launched on September 29, and as players continue to find the Ultimate Team’s best tactics, players, and Evolutions to dominate in Division Rivals and Champs, some have discovered the return of the kick-off glitch.

The kick-off glitch essentially allows players to get an open look on goal straight from the start of the match or from a reset. The glitch was prominent in FIFA 23, but it has been seen in other renditions of EA’s football games before that.

Now, it returns once again, as EA FC 24 player SAF_Tactician posted on X, “new FIFA same broken mechanics,” presenting gameplay of the glitch, as well as steps on how to perform it.

How to do EA FC 24 kick-off glitch

Here’s how to perform the kick-off glitch in EA FC 24 according to SAF:

1. From the kick-off, pass back using the L1/LB pass, which sends your ST on a run forward.
2. Play it back to a midfielder and straight away give it right back to the original passer.
3. Perform a first-time over-the-top through ball (L1/LB + Triangle/Y) to the ST making the run in behind.
4. If performed correctly, your striker will get the ball in behind and be onside for a one-on-one with the opposition’s keeper.

It may not work every time, as SAF said it’s “not as consistent this year as last, half of the time the ST runs into the opposing midfielder.” That said, “if my opponent isn’t switched on to it, there is a good chance that your ST ends up 1v1 against the GK.”

If you face a player performing the kick-off glitch, SAF also provides a way to counter it, “Switch to a CB and drag the player back.” You’ll need to anticipate it if you’re unsure whether or not the opponent is going to do the kick-off glitch, as no one wants to start the game going a goal down.
