  • Rush Out
  • Deflector
  • Cross Claimer
  • Far Reach

So far six new PlayStyles have been revealed to debut, with all of them linked to the goalkeeper position.

Based on the official descriptions from EA Sports, these goalkeeper PlayStyles will give shot-stoppers the following new abilities and animations.

Footwork

Footwork PlayStyle FC 25
  • Who: A goalkeeper who is known for using their feet to make difficult saves.
  • PlayStyle: Performs foot saves faster and with extended reach.
  • PlayStyle+: Performs foot saves more quickly with even greater reach.

Some goalkeepers are more adept at using their feet to make saves that are low to the ground. Not only will the Footwork PlayStyle provide extra foot save speed, but it’ll boost the range that a goalkeeper can reach with their feet.

Predictions: ter Stegen, Onana, Simon

Rush Out

Rush Out PlayStyle FC 25
  • Who: A goalkeeper who is known to often challenge attackers head-on in 1v1 situations.
  • PlayStyle: Rush speed is increased and has an improved reaction speed to shots in rushing situations.
  • PlayStyle+: Rush speed is greatly increased and has a faster reaction speed to shots in rushing situations.

Goalkeepers known for rushing out to close down an attacker’s space in intense situations will receive the Rush Out PlayStyle. These goalkeepers will be quicker off their line and they’ll have a better chance of winning the 1v1 duel.

Predictions: Neuer, Ederson, Sommer

Deflector

Deflector PlayStyle FC 25
  • Who: A goalkeeper who is known for having great deflection control to safer spaces.
  • PlayStyle: Performs deflection saves into safer areas with increased ball speed control.
  • PlayStyle+: Performs deflection saves into safer areas or towards free teammates with greater ball speed control.

When a goalkeeper isn’t in a position to comfortably catch a ball, or a shot gets deflected unexpectedly, their next best option is often to push it into a safe space. The ability to control the ball to their will and force it out of danger is a vital aspect of goalkeeper decision-making.

Predictions: Pickford, Vicario, Raya

Cross Claimer

Cross Claimer PlayStyle
  • Who: A goalkeeper who is known to often come off the line to claim high balls from dangerous areas.
  • PlayStyle: Comes out to claim crosses with increased pace, increased awareness of the ball trajectory, and further punch reach with increased power.
  • PlayStyle+: Comes out to claim crosses with greater pace, greater awareness of the ball trajectory, increased punch reach with greater power.

Poor management of the 12-yard box can prove disastrous for goalkeepers, making the claim for any high balls an important aspect of keeping a clean sheet. Being a dominant and commanding presence within that space will limit the danger your team faces and the Cross Claimer PlayStyle will help with that.

Predictions: Martinez, Oblak, Endler

Far Reach

Far Reach PlayStyle FC 25
  • Who: A goalkeeper who is known for the ability to cover the net and extend their reach to save challenging shots.
  • PlayStyle: Performs diving saves with improved reach and has access to extended reach animations.
  • PlayStyle+: Performs diving saves with greater reach and has access to extended reach animations.

Height and reach are a major factor in being a top-tier goalkeeper, and some rely on their stature more than others. Shot stoppers like Courtois are known to cover an impressive portion of the net thanks to their extended reach and will likely receive the Far Reach PlayStyle.

Predictions: Courtois, Donnarumma, Bulka

Far Throw

Far Throw PlayStyle FC 25
  • Who: A goalkeeper who is known for starting counter attacks with long throws.
  • PlayStyle: Able to perform throws with increased speed and distance.
  • PlayStyle+: Able to perform throws with greater speed and distance.

Teams who enjoy counter-attacking football will want to utilize a goalkeeper with the Far Throw PlayStyle. The ability to throw the ball up the pitch to a greater distance will facilitate your squad’s ability to turn defense into offense.

Predictions: Maignan, Alisson, Kobel

You’ll have to wait until the ratings reveal to find out which goalkeepers have received the new PlayStyles before you look to snap them up on the Web App.
