EA FC 25 Rush feature explained
EA SportsBesides a slew of returning game modes, EA FC 25 is set to introduce a brand-new mode called Rush.
The mode was the subject of a series of leaks before its reveal with some insiders also naming it Penta. With Rush now confirmed to arrive in the upcoming title, here’s everything to know about it in EA FC 25.
What is Rush in EA FC 25?
Rush is a new 5v5 game mode in EA FC 25 that lets players form teams of four, along with an AI goalkeeper, and compete in matches on a smaller pitch. It is confirmed to be replacing VOLTA in the upcoming title.
You can only control one player of your choice while playing Rush in Ultimate or Clubs. This makes teamwork essential. Here are some key details about the game mode:
- 7-minute timer and there is no half-time
- No kick-off, players race for the ball in the middle of the pitch
- No spot-kicks, penalties replaced with a 1v1 against the opposition goalkeeper
- Fouls lead to a blue card, which is a 60-second sin bin
- Offsides are limited to the attacking third
- There are no direct free kicks, so you can only pass from set pieces
- A draw leads to Golden Goal, and if the stalemate remains, the winner will be decided through Penalties.
As for the Blue card penalty, 15 seconds will be slashed off the timer if their team concedes a goal, allowing them to return to the pitch quicker. Accumulating two Yellow cards will also result in the guilty player being handed a Blue card.
All modes Rush is available in
- Ultimate Team
- Clubs
- Kick Off
- Manager Career
The 5v5 mode will feature Season rewards that’ll be shared across both UT and Clubs. In Ultimate Team, you’ll be able to earn Rush Points by completing squad build requirements and finishing matches. These points track your progress as you work toward getting weekly rewards.
In Manager Career, you’ll be able to take control of your club’s Youth Academy and boost players’ development by organizing 5v5 tournaments throughout the season.
Kick Off will offer the quickest way to jump into Rush as you can pick two teams and get into the action straight away.
All special features in Rush
Rush is designed to be a social experience, which is why it comes with a new Quick Chat feature allowing you to send instant messages using the D-pad. Quick Chat can also be used for communicating instructions to your teammate such as ‘Pass,’ ‘Cross,’ or ‘Shoot.’
In Rush, you’ll have four different camera options to pick from, these include:
- Broadcast
- Tactical
- Pro
- End to End
Besides this, you can also customize your experience by toggling on the AR Coach. This system provides real-time visual guidance to help improve your decision-making and positioning during Rush matches. By analyzing the action, you’ll receive indicators suggesting areas of the pitch you should go to, or the runs you should make.
Rush matches will take place in a special stadium built in collaboration with Nike. The venue’s shape takes inspiration from the iconic Mercurial boots, it also has a 23.7-degree angle just like the Nike Swoosh. Players can also look forward to commentary from the iconic Fernando Palomo, who’s sure to make the action even more exciting.
Lastly, since the mode is all about collaboration, you’ll be able to pull off special two-player celebrations to cap off an impressive team goal.
Speaking of celebrations, the devs have provided a glimpse at some of the new celebrations coming in FC 25 alongside all the new gameplay features to look forward to.
