Free agents & contract expiry players explained in EA FC 24

EA FC 24 Career Mode includes fairly accurate versions of actual contracts, meaning players who are nearing the end of their deal in real life will be available on the cheap in-game. Free agents are players without a club after their deal has expired, while contract expiry players have one year left.

After scouring through the game’s extensive database, we’ve put together a guide of the best free agents and contract expiry players to sign in EA FC 24 Career Mode.

Keep in mind that contract expiry players have changed since the game’s launch and our lists reflect the players nearing the end of their contract at the time of writing. For example, Manuel Neuer was considered a contract expiry player when FC 24 arrived, but the goalkeeper has since signed a one-year contract extension with Bayern Munich.

That being said, any contract changes ahead of the 2024/25 season won’t be reflected in this year’s Career Mode, which is why someone like Luca Modric is still available on the cheap. Although he signed an extension at Real Madrid, this won’t come into play until EA FC 25.
