EA won’t stop till they beat Call of Duty

Published

on

EA Games Label executive vice president Patrick Soderlund has said that they won’t stop working until they beat Call of Duty with their Battlefield franchise.

“Competition is good,” said Soderlund. “It brings the best out of people. If there was only Battlefield or only Call of Duty, then the development teams might have been a little bit more content. We don’t look at them necessarily and mimic what they do.”

He said that his team is ‘killing themselves’ to become number one in the industry.

“We are spending a ton of money on this, our teams are killing themselves every year to make great games,” he added. “I want to give our consumers the best I can. We will strive to be number one. If I said, ‘number five is probably fine,’ it’s hard for people to rally behind that message. But I wouldn’t say we could be number one if I didn’t think we could. I think I have the right team, the right product and the right strategy to get there.”

Apex Legends devs outline their efforts to combat cheaters

Cheaters in Apex Legends have been ruining servers and preventing pros and streamers from playing Ranked Leagues.

Apex devs respond to cheaters

In recent news, Respawn Entertainment put out a video responding to huge complaints about in-game hackers and cheaters.

Since the game released back in 2019, Apex Legends has suffered from hackers and cheaters across the battle royale.

This has left not only casual players, but pros and streamers in agony as the game becomes increasingly difficult to play due to the sheer number and extent of hacking.

The issue of cheating has been impacting the community so much so that Respawn actually released a short video commenting on the issue.

Apex devs respond to cheaters

In the video, Apex Legends Design Developer, Jason McCord (@MosterclipRSPN), describes the battle against cheaters as a ‘war of attrition forever’.

Essentially, they state that cheaters will constantly find new ways to exploit the game, regardless of their anti-cheat system. The best Respawn can do is attempt to stay two steps ahead of the hackers.

Another interesting point Jason makes is regarding their silence. Respawn can’t share details about the ways in which they are countering cheaters in their game. If they did, it would be like giving away their war strategy, making it easier for hackers to cheat.

Helping players impacted by cheaters

What Jason did share was how Respawn are working on ways to help players whose games have been impacted by hackers. The Design Developer states that this could come in the form of loss forgiveness, preventing loss of RP in Ranked Leagues.

Jason also confirmed that the devs are listening to the comments of the community. However, there is a strict threat detection process in which updates have to go through. This is simply to make sure these changes can be made without any negative backlash.

Player feedback is important to Respawn, with many of the past updates being added after comments from the community. For more news on Apex Legends, stay tuned on Charlie Intel and check out some of our other articles below.

Apex Legends War Games trailer hints at huge Lifeline change

The new Apex Legends War Games event trailer may have hinted at a future Lifeline change that may potentially cause controversy.

Apex Legends Lifeline nerf

Ever since the drone revive update for Lifeline in Season 5, players have been calling for her to be nerfed. It seems the new War Games trailer has hinted at a possible change to her kit.

On April 8th, Respawn Entertainment released the trailer for their highly anticipated mini-event, War Games. Not only does this update mean new skins and LTMs, but also a new patch with, of course, meta changes.

Apex Legends developers have admitted to the struggle of balancing Lifeline before, and have even stated that they would like to try a version of Lifeline “without the shield”.

Lifeline Drone Revive

Lifeline was originally one of the characters with the highest win rate in the game due to her passive ability to heal herself quicker than any other Legend.

However, since this passive was removed and replaced by her drone revive, she has become even stronger in the role of support; not just keeping herself alive but also effortlessly reviving her teammates.

In the trailer for War Games, it seems Lifeline’s drone revive remains. However, this time she doesn’t have the protective shield that many have been calling for to be removed.

It seems they will be finally trying out this new change to Lifeline, which could also potentially lead to further changes surrounding the Low Profile passive.

In another recent discussion with the developers, players also found out that Season 8 Legend, Fuse, had the worst win rate of all characters. Perhaps, this Lifeline change will be a part of some larger patch notes which could see less meta characters such as Rampart and Fuse getting changes to their abilities.

Apex Legends is a battle royale that seems to be constantly evolving, with talk of adding more game modes in the future. Although there was some backlash towards the War Games event, with players worried it will ruin the battle royale experience, these new modes draw players to the game and keep the player base fresh.
