Overlooked Elden Ring setting makes inventory management easy in Shadow of the Erdtree

FromSoftware added a new feature in the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree 1.12 patch that provides a visual indicator and a recent items tab for the new items in your inventory, but it’s being overlooked.

You’re bound to be picking up plenty of new items throughout your playthrough. Considering that you need to be at a high level to experience the DLC, the new items you loot might get lost in your already abundant inventory, hence the addition of this new setting.

To enable the “Mark New Items” and “Show Recent Items Tab”, you need to make your way to the Display settings and enable these two options from there.

Without the visual indicator for your new items, or even the recent items tab, it can be difficult for you to differentiate between the items you earned from your base game playthrough and the ones you earned in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Although this might seem like a very minor change, it can help you organize your inventory even better, and players are thankful on Reddit. Under a post highlighting the new setting, one comment read, “This is exactly the kind of QoL features that I want.”

One player wondered why the game doesn’t have these settings on by default. One user replied, “It’s good practice as the idea is ‘don’t change someone’s setup without asking them’.”

Others also assumed that both these settings were turned on by default, or that the settings were bugged but were surprised to find that it wasn’t the case.

This feature comes in handy especially when you’re trying to level up quickly to access the DLC content. The game also features quite a few bosses, so here’s everything you need to know about them including all the new weapon types that you will come across.
