Simple Elden Ring trick takes down Furnace Golems with ease
FromSoftwareFurnace Golems are formidable elite enemies introduced in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree that can be a real pain to take down. But, they do have an odd weakness that can be easy to miss.
You’ll come across these towering titans in almost all of the DLC‘s major regions. Due to their size, Furnace Golems are impossible to miss and even harder to defeat. They’re extremely tanky, tricky to maneuver around, and have a moveset made up of sweeping attacks that can end your run in two hits.
While battling them, most players have opted for a strategy of attacking their heels until they stagger, leaving them vulnerable to a critical hit. However, breaking their poise can take ages and you’ll have to dodge their devastating AoE attacks while you’re at it.
A simpler way to drain their health can be uncovered through a bit of exploration. Just head over to the Shadow Keep’s main entrance and look inside the tents on the fort’s outer walls. Eventually, you’ll find a note that spills the Furnace Golem’s secret weakness. Turns out that these fire giants can be toppled by using fire against them.
All you have to do is craft items like Hefty Fire Pots and lob them into the giant furnace. This does major damage and can also stagger. Depending on the level of your Scadutree Blessings, it can take up to 6-7 Fire Pots until the Golem goes down.
Before you can start chucking pots into the furnace, you’ll need to find a high-enough vantage point that provides a clear view of the target. Alternatively, you can stagger the golem until it falls over, and then throw the Fire Pot from close range. If you’ve been struggling with these colossal enemies, this approach is well worth a try.
Furnace Golems are merely the tip of the iceberg when it comes to challenging new enemies in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. To make fights against them a little bit easier, consider picking up the Armor of Solitude and gathering the best early-game weapons.
