There is an issue in Fortnite which is causing players to have reduced visibility while in the Storm, and costing them the game. Epic Games have responded to fan complaints about this.

There is a wide array of content to enjoy in Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 6, including tameable animals, new map locations, and a weapon crafting system. However, players are facing a major issue in the battle royale.

Some fans have noted that they’re facing difficulty in seeing anything while caught in the Storm, making it difficult for them to escape and costing them the match. Epic Games have noticed this and addressed player complaints.

If you play Fortnite, then you know that the battle royale creates a sense of urgency by having the Storm shrink throughout a match. If you find yourself caught in it, then your health will begin to slowly drain until you get yourself out.

This is meant to encourage players to keep moving across the map, but fans are reporting a reduction in visibility within the Storm due to an issue that has been prevalent since Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 5.

As a result, they’re unable to get themselves out of harm’s way before their health is fully drained. This also leaves them vulnerable to enemies that they can’t see, who will take the opportunity to finish them off.

There is a post in the Fortnite subreddit which showcases a temporary solution for PC. This involves turning Performance Mode on and ends up almost entirely removing the Storm. This has around 10k upvotes at the time of writing.

The comments section of this thread is filled with various players who have reported facing the same problem during matches. “This desperately needs to be fixed. It’s impossible to see in the Storm if you aren’t on PC,” wrote one player.

One Fortnite dev commented on the Reddit post: “Thanks for the note. We can discuss this with the team.” The issue has been listed as “investigating” in the official Fortnite Trello board, so we’ll hopefully see a fix for this soon.

Performance Mode ideal for players who own lower-end PCs. It prioritizes the game’s functionality by reducing the graphic quality, which helps improve frame-rates and hides the storm. You can try it until a fix is issued for the problem.
