FIFA 22 FUT Captains: Release date, promo explained, & featured players
The active FIFA 22 Ultimate Team promo is called FUT Captains, a brand-new event that boosts the game’s best leaders as well as FUT Hero cards. Here’s everything you need to know about the promo.
The FUT Hero concept in FIFA 22 honored spectacular former players who didn’t quite achieve Icon status. Although Ultimate Team players praised EA for delivering an interesting new concept, the majority of FUT Hero cards failed to see frequent use from players.
However, the FUT Captains FIFA 22 Ultimate Team promo will focus on delivering much-needed upgrades to the aforementioned FUT Hero cards, as well as celebrating the best skippers still playing today.
Here’s everything you need to know about the FUT Captains promo in FIFA 22.
FUT Captains release date
Confirmed via an in-game loading screen, EA have announced that week one of FIFA 22 FUT Captains got underway on April 8, 2022. Team Two of FUT Captains has hit Ultimate Team on April 15, 2022.
As is customary for EA promos in FUT, players received the new cards in packs at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST / 7 PM CET.
FIFA 22 FUT Captains explained
The FUT Captains promo delivers a considerable boost to certain FUT Heroes. Of course, these will differ from existing FUT Hero cards and not act as a boost to the ones you might already own.
This event will also come with a full promo team of juiced cards for some of football’s best current captains, which will arrive in packs at the same time.
The loading screen found in-game revealed two different card variations, one for the FUT Hero upgrades and one for original FUT Captains cards.
FUT Captains featured players
Team 1 FUT Captains
There were some truly spectacular players up for grabs in the FUT Captains promo. FIFA 22 players will get two teams as the promo will run for two weeks. The standout player in team one is without a doubt Wissam Ben Yedder, whose cards always rocket to the top of the meta.

- Tyrone Mings – Aston Villa
- Christian Günter – Freiburg
- Mark Noble – West Ham United
- Marco Reus – Borussia Dortmund

- Fabio Quagliarella – Sampdoria
The FUT Captains promo will also highlight FUT Hero cards. These cards received upgrades and will also be available in packs throughout the promo.
In Team 1 of FUT Captains, four Hero cards were given massive upgrades and you can find them below:
- Antonio Di Natale: Serie A
- Diego Milito: LaLiga
- Clint Dempsey: MLS
- Freddie Ljungberg: Premier League
Team 2 FUT Captains
Team 2 also introduced FIFA 22 players to some valuable new additions. Marcelo is an obvious standout and players had been asking for a special Marcelo card for months now. There are also three Premier League players, which is great news for those who use English squads.

Team 2’s Heroes look fantastic and may even have Team 1’s Heroes beat in terms of value. If you’re lucky, you’ll get your hands on a Team 2 FUT card. The players consist of:
- Abedi Pele: Ligue 1
- Robbie Keane: Premier League
- Ivan Cordoba: Serie A
- Joe Cole: Premier League
There are some incredible cards scattered around Team 1 and Team 2 of FUT Captains that will prove to be viable even after the upcoming TOTS promo.
