There’s no denying that Ultimate Mode remains the biggest draw in the FIFA series for returning players, and something that gets fans talking every year is the reveal of the mode’s player ratings, with a number now having been leaked for FIFA 22.

At the beginning of each new Ultimate Team season, EA does a grand unveiling of the top 100 highest rated players featured in the mode.

It sparks a great deal of debate among the community as fans argue about who has been boosted too much and who has been hard done by.

The ratings for the all-new FUT Hero cards have already been confirmed, but a new leak has offered up a sneak preview at how more of the world’s best players have faired in the latest ratings refresh, including all of Manchester United’s first team.

Ultimate Team continues to be the most popular mode in the FIFA series, and the unique promotional cards added each year go a long way in keeping players engaged.

EA has already announced the addition of FUT Heroes in FIFA 22, and the return of Ones to Watch cards will have fans equally excited.

Now, just as the top 100 players have been unveiled, the publisher has also announced more Ones to Watch cards. We’ve got every confirmed card below, along with our predictions for the full line-up.

What are Ones to Watch cards?

FIFA 21 Ones to Watch team

Perhaps one of the biggest draws in Ultimate Team is how real, on-the-pitch action directly impacts the mode.

Ones to Watch cards are special items depicting players who have recently transferred to a new team. These players have dynamic ratings which get higher and higher to match their performances for club and country.

Each time that player is awarded a Team of the Week in-game, their overall rating will match it. For example, in FIFA 21, Ferran Torres was rated 81 but received an 84-rated in-form card. His Ones to Watch went up to the same rating and remained there for the rest of the year.

A new feature announced could also see these items get a special one-time upgrade. The ‘Wins to Watch’ mechanic means that if an OTW player’s team wins five out of ten competitive matches after October 1, they receive a rating boost of plus one.

FIFA 22 Ultimate Team confirmed Ones to Watch

EA announced that Ones to Watches would be returning once again in FIFA 22, but so far, they have only officially revealed a handful of players. Real Madrid’s David Alaba, who moved from Bayern Munich over the summer, was the first to be confirmed.

PSG, who have had a busy summer, also have three players involved in the promotion, including Lionel Messi following his dramatic transfer from Barcelona.

Many who have moved to the Premier League during the latest transfer window will be also be included. Among them is Cristiano Ronaldo, who is set to be one of the valuable Ones to Watch cards when they land in-game.

These are all of the players confirmed so far. We’ll update this hub with the full line-up and ratings when EA announces them.

EA is wasting no time in getting Ones to Watch cards into the game this year. In a recent website update, they revealed that the promotion will kick off on October 1, 2021, the same day as FIFA 22’s worldwide release.

The first team of Ones to Watch players will be in packs on launch day, while the second lot will follow on October 8, 2021.

The publisher also confirmed that there will be two smaller releases away from the two main lineups. These will take place between October 3 – 8 and October 10 – 13.

FIFA 22 editions preorder bonuses

The fact that OTW cards continue to upgrade and evolve throughout the year makes them extremely valuable in-game, especially the high-rated players. Luckily, there is a way to bag one without having to spend any coins.

Those who preorder the FIFA 22 Ultimate Edition will receive a free Ones to Watch player when the game is launched worldwide on October 1, 2021. This edition is priced at around £89.99 / $99.99.

EA originally listed that the preorder bonus was a player pick, where fans would be able to choose from a random selection of cards. However, they have since clarified that they will be issued as one random card.

Best FIFA 22 Ultimate Team starter squad

Finding the right starter team can be tricky in the first weeks of Ultimate Team, so we’ve put together the best XI you can make on a budget.

Published

on

FIFA 22 Ultimate Team cards with logo

Building the perfect FUT squad is no easy task, especially at the beginning when coins are hard to come by. So, we’ve put together the best starter squad in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team that won’t break the bank.

FIFA Ultimate Team is a marathon, not a sprint. Although fans go into every new season dreaming of squads full of ICONS and Ones to Watches, this just isn’t possible right away.

Even those who have put in work on the Web App won’t have raised the coins to have a team full of superstars in the early stages of the season. With that in mind, we’ve put together the best team to get your FUT journey started in FIFA 22.

FIFA 22 Ultimate Team starter defenders

Goalkeeper is the one position on Ultimate Team that you have no control over, so really it all comes down to the one with the best overall stats. Early on, we’ve gone for AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, who has great reflexes despite his modest 84 rating.

When it comes to defenders, pace is the name of the game. Most starter squads contain extremely pacey attackers, so it’s important to have a backline that can keep up when the ball is played in behind.

That’s why we’ve picked Fikayo Tomori and Maxence Lacroix as a center-back pairing. Both have pace stats over 80, but neither is more than 79 rated overall, which means their price will come down relatively quickly.

Once again, full-backs are all about keeping up with the blistering speeds of FUT’s wingers. Theo Hernandez and Kevin Mbabu will be ideal at the start, as their pace can be boosted to the high 90’s with chemistry styles.

FUT 22 starter midfielders

The midfield is arguably the most important area of the pitch, as it gives your team balance between attack and defense. At launch, the top CAMs and CDMs will require a lot of coins, but there are plenty of solid low-rated cards that will set you on the right path.

Tanguy Ndombele has been FUT favorite for many years, thanks to his impressive all-round card. Pairing him with Real Madrid starlet Eduardo Camavinga will give your midfield two great box-to-box players that can offer a lot in all areas of the pitch.

For a more attacking player, we’ve opted for Chelsea’s Mason Mount. EA gave him nice passing and dribbling stats for the early game, but upgrades to players like Phil Foden will likely mean that Mount’s price will stay low throughout the year.

FIFA 22 Ultimate Team starter attackers

Picking cheap players that can still do the business at the top end of the pitch can be difficult, as many of the best goalscorers and wingers keep the price for many months. However, there are still some devastating attackers that won’t set you back too much.

Bearing in mind chemistry links to the midfield, Christian Pulisic will be the perfect early option on the left-wing. His pace and dribbling stats will make it much easier to get around opposing full-backs, and his shooting can easily be buffed by a Deadeye or Hunter chemistry style.

On the right, Ousmane Dembele is going to be a star-man for many players once again. His stats far outweigh his 83 rating, and although he is likely to be the most expensive player in this team – he’s worth splashing on as soon you have enough coins.

Though the middle you’ll want someone who is still effective against the overpowered center-backs that other teams will have. We’ve gone for Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, whose downgrade to 81 will make him the go-to in FIFA 22.

FIFA 22 Ultimate Team full starter squad

For the sake of getting everybody on full chemistry, we’ve selected a 4-3-3 formation. However, this can be changed in-game using custom tactics to any lineup that suits your playstyle.

Some of the players can be seen to be on nine chemistry instead of the maximum 10. This can be fixed by picking a Premier League manager such as Sean Dyche or Dean Smith.

Check out our full FIFA 22 starter squad below.

  • GK – Mike Maignan (AC Milan)
  • RB – Kevin Mbabu (Wolfsburg)
  • CB – Maxence Lacriox (Wolfsburg)
  • CB – Fikayo Tomori
  • LB – Theo Hernandez (AC Milan)
  • CM – Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid)
  • CM – Tanguy Ndombele (Spurs)
  • CM – Mason Mount (Chelsea)
  • RW – Ousmane Dembele (Barcelona)
  • ST – Anthony Martial (Manchester United)
  • LW – Christian Pulisic (Chelsea)

Changes coming to FUT Draft rewards in FIFA 22, says leaker

Fans have been calling for changes to FUT Draft rewards for some time, and a new leak suggests that EA may have listened for FIFA 22.

Published

on

FUT Draft logo with FUT coins

FUT Draft has been a staple of Ultimate Team for many years now. According to a new leak, the FIFA 22 FUt Draft rewards will see a revamp that fans have been calling for in the franchise.

FIFA 22 is nearly upon us, and fans are itching to dive into another season of swapping and trading in Ultimate Team. With the additions of FUT Heroes and some fresh ICON cards, there’s more to grind for than ever before.

Opening packs is fundamental to Ultimate Team, and FUT Draft was added as a way to earn pack rewards quickly. However, the underwhelming rewards earned in Draft have caused the mode to be largely abandoned by the community.

However, according to a new leak, FUT Draft in FIFA 22 could see some changes that have been long-awaited by the community.

FIFA 22 striker Erling Haaland

FUT Draft is an Ultimate Mode where fans spend 15,000 coins to build a team from scratch using a series of random player picks. They then use this team to play in up to four matches, with rewards increasing in value the more games you win without losing.

Unfortuntlaey, the random nature of opening FUT packs means that the items earned aren’t always valuable enough to make playing the mode productive.

Players will find that they have recuperated their 15,000 entry fee – even if they win the Draft by beating four rival teams in a row.

According to known Ultimate Team leaker FutSpy, EA is looking to solve this issue by adding new rewards to be won. The leaker uncovered code hinting that Draft rewards will now feature some cards of a guaranteed rating, some of 82 or higher and some of 83 or higher.

This is a way of ensuring that those who make it further are always rewarded for their efforts and that packs have much more chance of being worth 15,000 coins or more.

The news is likely to please long-time fans, who have been calling for more incentive to play the more for many years.

EA has yet to confirm if the leak is true, so stay tuned on Charlie INTEL for future updates.
